Blue among those released

September 1st, 2007 – 2:21 PM by Judd Zulgad

Safety Greg Blue and receiver Jason Carter have been informed they will be released today by the Vikings. The Vikings must cut 11 players today. Here is the list (the team will annouce the officials cuts at some point today):

– S Greg Blue

DT Conrad Bolston

– WR Jason Carter

– CB Dovonte Edwards

– LB David Herron

– CB Chad Johnson

– WR Martin Nance

– RB Artose Pinner

DE Khreem Smith

QB Tyler Thigpen

WR Chandler Williams

NOTES AND QUOTES

– Pinner becomes a free agent who does not have to go through the waiver process. It’s looking like the Vikings might keep three running backs (Taylor, Peterson and Moore) and three fullbacks (Richardson, Dugan and Tahi).

– Off of this list, I would not be surprised if Herron, Johnson, Nance and Thigpen end up on practice squad. Carter most likely will not. It’s unclear if Williams will be brought back on the practice squad.

– Edwards’ camp was very surprised by the move. “I’m really ticked off about the situation,” said Ray Savage, who is Edwards’ agent. “The kid had a great camp regardless of what the organization said. I think it was a situation where they knew who they wanted to keep, period.” Edwards now will be subject to the waiver wire.
