The Vikings will open their three-day minicamp on Friday at Winter Park with a morning and afternoon session. The team also will practice twice on Saturday and once on Sunday morning. Unlike the organized team activities that took place last week, this minicamp is mandatory.
As a result, the Vikings are expecting cornerback Antoine Winfield to show up and the team will be able to fine him if he stays away. Winfield’s agent told the NFL’s website last week that his client would attend the minicamp. It still isn’t clear why Winfield has elected to stay away from Winter Park this offseason.
“We’ll go morning and afternoon and have an installation in between,” coach Brad Childress said of the minicamp schedule. “There are many similar plays but the volume is there and we accelerate the pace. There is an install before Friday’s morning practice, before Friday’s afternoon, the same for Saturday, and then we usually work in the red area on Sunday, but it happens faster.”
