Loyal Vikings fans will recall the team selected cornerback Adrian Ward with a 2005 seventh-round pick obtained from Oakland in the Randy Moss trade. Those same fans also will recall that Ward was the Vikings’ only draft pick that year who failed to make the 53-man roster out of training camp.
Ward eventually spent time with the New York Giants. Now he has surfaced again. This time he has signed a free-agent deal with the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL.
Calgary also signed another player whose name will ring a bell with Vikings diehards. Quarterback Barrick Nealy was signed by Minnesota as a free-agent receiver last May but was cut in July. This will be his second time on the Calgary roster.
