Ian Johnson, Booty signed to practice squad

September 6th, 2009 – 2:15 PM by Chip Scoggins

I just confirmed that running back Ian Johnson has been signed to the practice squad. The former Boise State standout pushed Albert Young for the No. 3 running back job during the preseason.

As I mentioned below, offensive tackle Drew Radovich has signed and there’s a good chance quarterback John David Booty will also be signed to the eight-man practice squad.

UPDATE: NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora has confirmed that Booty has been signed to the practice squad.

We will post the rest when we get them.

Ian. YES! YES! Curious, Is their free agent contract honored, or do they get a minimum contract? {are they the same?} Radovich YES! Cook should be very nervous.

if Booty makes it, there’s still a chance we trade T-Joke.

farside: their contract is up to the team. The free agent contract does not have to be honored, but sometimes a team will honor so the player might decide to not sign with another team. Remember, a practice squad player can be signed onto an active roster of any other team.

To the best of my knowledge…

Guns, let me se if i got this right. A pratice squad player can sign with another team if and when, of his own free will? But, if they do sign their free-agent contract then they are in binding to their current team? If that be the case, then can not a practice squad player also be traded?

That’s good WTF. Booty looked like he needs all the practice he can get. I’m glad we kept him, but if he has to start, we’re screwed.

Booty is a waste of a practise squad spot. They should have kept Bobby Williams he looked like he had more potential than Booty.
