Brett who?

August 25th, 2009 – 6:46 PM by Judd Zulgad

Sports Illustrated has taken an interesting approach to the Brett Favre situation for at least this week. They are ignoring it.

I just got a press release from the magazine that declares this week’s issue (dated Aug. 31) as being 100 percent Favre free. This appears to be a completely legit press release and even refers to a story about the Vikings backup quarterbacks with no mention of Favre.

It’s interesting that when Favre was asked at his introductory news conference how he would respond to those who are tired of his waffling on retirement he said, “Don’t watch.” Evidently, Sports Illustrated elected not to write.

This is interesting on Favre and the playbook if anyone hasn’t seen it.

Actually, it is rather refreshing to have a story on the Vikes without Favre in it. and I am one of those who favor Favre as our QB. I just had a rational thought {yes, my head is killing me now}. For those who are in favor of keeping TJack and releasing Booty, figure this. We know Favre is not the long term answer, nor is Sage. So, we make references to drafting our future QB next year. We drafted TJack for that same purpose, and I am sure that is his mindset. So do you really think he is keen to ‘grooming’ his replacement, especially when he will be trying to upseat the new guy. Again I rant, keep Booty. He may only ever amount to a backup rating, and that is ok, ‘if’ our future QB is in the next draft.

That’s lame on SI’s part. It’s a story…cover it for posterity’s sake, if nothing else.

Glad I canceled my subscription a couple years ago.

Right Toe, that’s completely lame. I think people should cancel their subscriptions and get their money back. They say “100% satisfied or receive a 100% refund for all undelivered issues, at any time, for any reason”.

I would keep the free NFL retro T-shirt though.

Since I went through all the trouble of gathering the stats for this, and then new blogs came out, I think I shall re-post:

I think the argument that KW is the best DT in the league is legitimate. Just look at the stats, compare him to any other DT. Especially Haynesworth, he is the only one who comes close.

Both had 8.5 sacks-more than all other DTs

Both were near the top in DT tackles:
Shaun Rogers NT (CLE) had 76 Tackles
Vince Wilfork NT (NE) had 66 Tackles
Kevin Williams had 60 Tackles, Haynesworth, 51.

This is where it gets interesting… Because of the dominance of our MN run defense, we saw fewer run attempts than any of these other guys. So, Shaun Rogers ended 76, of the 541 run plays they saw, at the line (14.048%), Vince Wilfork ended 66, of the 415 run plays they saw, at the line (15.903%), Haynesworth ended 51, of 403 run plays they saw, at the line (a meager 12.655%).

And our man KW, ended 60, of the ONLY 371 run plays we saw, at the line (16.172%)

Booty is going to have mysterious injury real soon. Injured reserve. then they can keep all the qbs.

That’s good SI did this because usually when they do something on a player something bad happens. Their swim suit edition only one worth anything. They have always been negative on vikes anyway

I bet Peter King had something to do with this.

They cater to East Coast teams, Sheriff. I read in Sports Illustrated that Bill Belichick owns four homes in Nantucket. No kidding! It inspired me:

There once was coach from Nantucket.
When charged with cheating, he tried to duck it.

On October 5, 2009 @ 11:45 p.m. Ted Thompson will say “We told Brett that we were worried about his legacy but he wouldn’t listen. Now, because he is considered a dic*head by all Packer fans, we have decided to not retire his number. We need a place at Lambeau to retire Aaron Rodgers’ number somewhere in the future. And by the way Brett, I guess I stuck it to you didn’t I?”

Fred Cox says:

Any by the way Brett, after October 5 no one will want to watch you play.

I think Brett Favre should be put out of his misery, much like Dan Devine’s dog.
