Jackson’s status still unknown

August 1st, 2009 – 11:37 AM by Chip Scoggins

MANKATO — We just finished our media access after practice, but Vikings players and coaches did not know the condition of quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, who left the field after tripping over defensive tackle Letroy Guion.

Guion said he isn’t sure what happened.

“We were just in the heat of the moment,” Guion said. “I really don’t know what happened. Everything was moving so fast I don’t know what happened.”

Guion said he was being blocked by center John Sullivan when he ended up on the ground. Jackson was moving forward in the middle of several players when he appeared to trip over Guion.

Vikings coach Brad Childress wasn’t scheduled to meet with the media after practice, and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said he didn’t have any information.

“I’m watching so many things,” Bevell said. “I was watching him and then he started to move so I moved my eyes and came back and he was down so I didn’t exactly see what happened. … You don’t want to see any of your guys go down no matter who it is. Whether it’s your quarterback or your third tight end, it doesn’t matter. You never like to see anybody have any type of injury.”

We’ll bring you updates on Jackson’s condition as soon as we get anything.

VikingJ,

I agree. I am not a T-Jack fan, but I certainly won’t cheer when he goes down with an injury. I hope T-Jack is back on the field soon and continues to improve.

Anyone else think its gonna be T-Jack to start the season? T-broke is a funny line but I really hope he’s o.k.. He’s got to come back so we can put him through the “This is how you slide fool” drill . . .

I am a viking fan and have been for 30 years now. I think the team is better off with jackson as the starter, the kid can scramble out of trouble. Yes he does need to plant his feet in some cases before he throws, but let him mature at this position kernel klink is to blame for this mess this pre-season. Hope his injury isn’t to bad.
