Mike Ozanian of Forbes is the latest to weigh in on the Brett Favre-to-the-Vikings story.
His take, as one would expect, is a unique one. Ozanian writes that if Favre has indeed signed with the Vikings it “tells me that team owner Zygmunt Wilf wants to unload the franchise he bought for $600 million just four years ago.”
Here is the rest of the story.
The Vikings, by the way, declined to comment on Ozanian’s opinion piece.
The Pohlad boys should buy it haha,NOT! ! !
Thanks for that. That was the single worst piece of garbage I’ve ever read. It has the credibility of an ESPN report.
Ozanian is insanian…..the Wilfs will pass this team on to their kids…..
GO VIKES!!!!!
I agree with a post following the article. If the vikings were going to sell, they would add long term value to make them more profitable in the future. How does signing a guy who will be gone next year add value? If anything it hurts the Vikes, because they will be starting over next year.
If you were selling a team, you would sign Cassell or Cutler because they are franchise material, and you know it’s not you paying the contract for years to come.
I’m glad we didn’t give up a king’s ransom to get Cutler. Might’ve missed the boat on Cassell though…
WTF?
“The organization has been a laughingstock for the NFL”
To borrow a line from Smooter, I’d like to fist fight this guy.
Look at the condescending smirk on his little ferret face in his picture.
I bet he has an STD from a pock-marked Thai hooker she-boy.
What a Richard.
You guys must be really bored with Childress out of town…what a worthless link. The guy clearly isn’t watching the NFL on Sundays.
I agree Tomb, the write looks like he’s enjoyed the company on a lady-man a time or two.
Judd, I’m a bit disappointed in you. You should know better than to pay any attention to trash like that.
This is the season where nothing is actually going on… so dopes like this get their chance to manufacture stories to fill space.
But why did he say, “The organization has been a laughingstock for the NFL”?
I have never gotten that impression. A talented team with a rich tradition and past and future Hall of Famers. This guy has no credibility whatsoever.
If you’re wondering how much credibility Forbes has regarding sports, just remember that they chose Kevin McHale as one of the best GMs in basketball…. ‘nuf said.
I still want to fist fight him, though…granted, I’ll wear latex gloves, I don’t want to get any on me.
Bones, I don’t think we could’ve gotten Cassel for what the Chiefs did. I’m wondering if there wasn’t a little bit of a wink/nod under the table deal between Belichick and Pioli on that one. Especially since they could’ve gotten alot more for him and not had to give up a 2nd player along with it.
Tomb, he’d probably just flip a couple limp wristed slaps at you, then run away crying…
Seriously Judd? you getting money from Forbes for helping them with traffic? this is garbage
“What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”
The Vikings declined because this story is trash. I went on the blog half expecting the post and link to be deleted, but nary, it’s still here. Wow.
I’m thinking if I write something and submit it in a blog, it might get posted in the Vikings Blog. I’m thinking…Favre is actually going undercover for the Packers to give them our playbook. And he’s an alien.
I agree this was a very strange item and I don’t see the Favre move as setting up Wilf to sell. Nonetheless, I figured once it hit the Internet it would be talked about.
Since when are division champs laughing stocks of the NFL?? God what a moron. If anything the Rams are goin to LA.
Someone posted a link to the bleacher report of the Brett Favre signing on the previous blog. Some said don’t put to much stock in what THEY say. I clicked on the link and this is what I got:
“This article has been deleted

Ha, ha…musta been BUNK!!!
Dang it is gonna be so weird seeing Favre in Purple guys!?!? …but fun
I appreciate you posting the article Judd…I’ve been looking around for someone to target my animosity on, and this Mike Ozanian fits the bill.
I’d like to meet him and throw him that line from Pinhead in Hellraiser:
“I have such sights to show you.”
Hey Judd,
Besides A. Winfield who are the other notable players who will be up for FA after next season? Is he the only one in negotiations for an extension?
[…] But if you buy into any of those seemingly plausible explanations, you would be dead wrong — at least, according to Michael K. Ozanian of Forbes Magazine. With a tip of the hat to Judd Zulgad, here’s why Ozanian thinks Zygi has decided to make Favre his starting quarterback for the 2009 season: […]

This is the only way a bottom of the heap writer can get any attention–BUT with the current economy, maybe Forbes is for sale and would like Ziggy’s attention?
Viking owners are probably OK with Vike investment. Its everything else that has gone south.
Some of the price tag paid was probably speculative based on making progress on the stadium. To achieve maximum value Zygi has to get closer to a SuperBowl appearance and a stadium.
Selection of Favre surely season-ticket related (cash flow). Maybe not a franchise sale move. Not so sure about selection of Harvin/Loadbolt though
Not to defend this d-bag, but you have to look at this from his perspective. He writes for Forbes and is probably massively obsessed with money. From a financial stand-point the Vikings really are the laughing stock of the league. Dead last in revenue when last I checked.
If the guy knew anything about the game though he wouldn’t call us that.
Not ‘Interesting’ Mr. Ozone, just dumb. Don’t waste our time Judd.
