Pro Bowl defensive tackle Pat Williams talked about his ongoing legal situation in the StarCaps case, the need for Tarvaris Jackson to put more time in learning his craft and his text message to Brett Favre in an interview with Sirius NFL Radio this weekend.
The host Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com has a recap of their conversation right here. The Jackson answer was particularly interesting.
Here was Williams’ quote about Jackson:
“I talk to Tarvaris all the time (and) tell him you have to put in the time,” Williams said. “This ain’t college no more. This is the NFL. You have to put in more time than you are used to putting in. If you are putting in four hours, you have to put in eight. You have to put in more time than what he’s doing. I think if he puts the right time in, he will be a great quarterback in the league.”
“You have to put in more time than what he’s doing.”
Wow, the guy’s not putting in any extra effort?
That sort of pisses me off.
Not that I’m a Jackson apologist, and Williams is probably right, but how does Williams know how much time TJ is putting in? I don’t belive either spent the offseason in MN. That’s like a co-worker in our Kansas office telling me in MN that I have to put in more time…how does he know?
agreed tomb. maybe the truth is beginning to come out. sounds like t-jax thinks he’s better than what he really is. hey pat…..are those the same open arms that you and the rest of the d wrapped around farve while driving him into the turf??
Well, he’s Phat Pat…he knows sh!t…

I think he’s trying to get TJack ticked off so he can become the next super bowl MVP. Go Vikes!
By the way, when a relatively old, and relatively fat guy on your team is calling you out for lazines…well, that’s gotta sting a little.

I blew Mountain Dew out of my nose right after I read your above comment. That will teach me to read something hilarious and drink something at the same time. Too funny.
What’s next? Sidney Rice telling Tarvaris how to stay healthy? Brad Childress telling him how to be a GQ cover boy? Ryan Cook how to be tough? Shianco telling him how to effectively and correctly wear a towel?
I hope you’re right, blastmaster. Someone needs to tell the guy to step it up, because he sure doesn’t listen to the fans. Just because coach loves him doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to work hard.
Go Vikes!!!
Good advice, TJack better follow it. Now a little advice to Pat:
If you can get off on this drug suspension, be very careful of any supplements in the future. Better yet, just say NO! If you need to be stronger, put more time in the gym. If you need to shed a few pounds, push yourself away from the table. The Minnesota Vikings have made you rich beyond your wildest dreams, don’t let down your fans who are absolutely behind you all the way! ! !
Pat’s got a lot of credibility. He’s been around and has proven himself to be a pro. If Pat says something I’m inclined to believe it.
[…] During an interview with Alex Marvez of Sirius NFL Radio, Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams said that he has told quarterback Tarvaris Jackson he needs to apply himself to reach his potential. “I talk to Tarvaris all the time, (and) tell him you have to put in the time,” Williams said. “This ain’t college no more. This is the NFL. You have to put in more time than you are used to putting in. If you are putting in four hours, you have to put in eight. You have to put in more time than what he’s doing. I think if he puts the right time in, he will be a great quarterback in the league.” Williams, who is involved in ongoing Starcaps litigation as he combats a four-game NFL suspension, also indicated that he recently sent a text message to Favre. “I told him if he comes we will open our arms to you and if you don’t we understand,” Williams said. “He’s a Hall of Famer and no one can take that from him. He’s still one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play.” […]
He may be right, but what a stupid thing to say in the media. That kind of talk should stay in the locker room. You’ve got your own issues right now Pat, if you must see yourself quoted in the paper, talk about them and how you will avoid them in the future.
surfdoctor,
I do agree with you that Tomb posts some pretty funny stuff on occasion but are you sure it wasn’t the taste of Mountain Dew that caused you to blow some out your nose?
I know every time I have tried it, it came right back up too.
That stuff is awful!

Yeah I am sure it was Tomb’s wittiness and not the Dew. I am not a coffee drinker so that is my caffeine source unfortunately. MD is so bad for you but I love it love it love it!
