There was an interesting moment today while watching the NFL Network’s coverage of Commissioner Roger Goodell’s news conference at the league’s owner meetings in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Asked a question about Brett Favre, Goodell said: “I don’t know if he officially retired.”
That means Goodell doesn’t know if Favre filed his retirement papers in February after he announced he was done following one season with the New York Jets. The New York Daily News reported on Feb. 11 that Favre filed his retirment papers with the league. The paper cited a person with knowledge of the situation.
“The Jets submitted the paperwork Wednesday,” the Daily News’ Rich Cimini wrote in February. “… Some players wait years before filing their retirement papers, a formality that allows them to receive severance pay.”
In all honesty, whether Favre filed his retirement papers isn’t all that important. But it is interesting now that Goodell admits he doesn’t know if the quarterback even took that step.

yawn.
oh, and first.
With all the Favre said this ~ and Favre said that…I wonder how many of the “sources” might be coming out of Packers camp ??…Hoping to stir up enough trouble to have Favre get frustrated and hang it up ???…
Nah ~ they wouldn’t do that…
Yea right…
Is there a doctor in house? I wonder what the success rate is for one trying to rupture or complete the tear on its own? And if he did indeed injure it last november. And played with it that way the rest of the season, then rested it for four months. Would’nt it have somewhat healed? Do torn muscles heal on their own? Well I guess its a tendon, but its kinda the same isnt it?

Wow, this place is really dead. Everyone must be bored of talking about you-know-who. I can’t say I blame them.
Hello
Good morning everyone.
Go Vikes
Vikings fans, this is how it works. The guy doesn’t care about fans. On July 2nd last year he texted that there were no truths to the rumors he wanted back. He feeds the inuendo and the half truths. I don’t know why. He can easily step in front of a camera and put your mind at ease. But he plays games.
As a packer fan, I am much more afraid of the Vikings without Favre. Bringing that circus to town will ruin your team chemistry. If the guy has been training and working out everyday vs. riding the lawnmower I’d be much more worried about Favre. Now, I hope you bring him in, he can’t give you 16+ games, no way.
Don’t let last year fool you. He was able to play the same eight sorry NFC West and AFC west teams with the Jets that the Packers beat up on in 2007 and went 13-3. Sure he beat NE and Tenn, but take a look at that last game vs. Miami. With everything on the line, he threw a 3 yard chest pass to the Miami DE to give them and easy walk in TD. That had nothing to do with his bum shoulder and everything to do with the fact that “he has nothing more to prove” and is just out there for himself, his streak and his ego. He doesn’t care about taking care of the ball. He hasn’t for 10 years now.
I for one, would love if you brought the circus to town. Childress can’t handle that spotlight. No one can. You’ll have a good 8 week stretch and then it will start unraveling. If the Williams are suspended it will happen much sooner.
I wish I could file my retirement papers…….
Then I could go camper/pontoon racing more often.
Go Vikes
I have to agree, I don’t think you-know-who will give us 16+ games, and his recent playoffs record has been poor. That’s why I don’t want him. He’s washed up. That and the circus that he would bring.
I can understand why the Vikings have to consider him though, given the current QB situation. They have to do their due dilligence and see if he will be healthy and actually able to perform. In the end, I think they will do the right thing and not sign him, realizing that he doesn’t have “it” anymore, and he’s not worth the circus-like atmosphere that ‘ol “tears and beers” likes to create.
Oh, and mcgr80, thanks for NOT being a classless, arrogant Packers fan, like some of them that have been on this blog in the past….
