Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian could barely hide his excitement last week when talking to Chip about the potential of playing with Brett Favre. Well, Berrian’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, weighed in on the topic today through his use of Twitter.
Wrote Rosenhaus: “Look for Bernard Berrian to explode next season if the Vikings sign Favre. They will be unstoppable! BB can run deep & Favre can throw it deep.”
By the way, in case you’ve missed it, and I know there was a reference to this on the comments section of previous blogs, there is an interesting give-and-take going on between Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk and one of the chief editors at Yahoo! Sports. This relates to the news Yahoo! reported last week that Favre had told Vikings coach Brad Childress he was going to retire. If you aren’t up to date on this, check out this link and then this link.  Â

Did you hear yahoo sports said that Favre sent no X-rays to the Vikings and is sticking by their report of him staying retired. Who is seriously going to believe them. It’s Yahoo sports.
Judd, sorry you had to write about that guy again! Do you think sage is taking all this talk in stride? He seems to have been working so hard to become our starter, and now he’s on the back burner again. He has even expressed that he has some ideas about how to improve our offensive scheme, which shows alot of initiative.
Go Vikes!!!!
Thanks for the links to those “slapdick web sites” Judd! It’s fun to read about the “condescending and sarcastic” fued going on! One commenter said, “It seems like Childress or Favre could answer these various reports pretty easily but then I remembered they were both douchebags”, so that’s kind of funny.
If no one cares, I’ll get my Viking news from the Strib and not YAH-hoooo-oo-yoo!
Unless Rosenfels is being kept in the loop, and I guess that’s possible, I’d be a bit confused right now. Not that the Vikings should not try to improve their roster — and it’s not like we are talking about Joe Montana here — but if you are Rosenfels, a few weeks back everything seemed good. Now, not so good. But, who knows, maybe Rosenfels knows way more than we do. For his sake, I hope that’s the case.
Did anybody see Chad Greenway sitting with Tony Oliva last night at the Twins game ??…
Dick and Bert caught him on camera wearing a Twins shirt…
I know its not much…But the shelf has been pretty empty the last 5 days !!!
: )
Why do the vikings settle for back-ups and rejects. I mean come on, Sage is a career back-up. He’s been in the league what 7-8 years now and his stats are 28 td’s to 30 int’s. I mean come on he had the number 2 WR in the NFL on his team. He played the same amount of games that T-jack played and he threw way more INT’s than T-jack. I just dont get it, why are people so excited to see sage run the offense. To me he is garbage. why dont we go out and try to get some one like J.P. Losman or Derick Anderson. There not great but they are better than what we have. and one more thing, one thing i have noticed living in MN, we get super mad at the Vikings, T-Wolves, Wild when they dont do things in the off season, but the twins can get rid of their best players and do nothing in the off season but everyone loves them. can anyone tell me why. Why are we so nice to the Twins and nobody else?
Twins have a good public relations department !!…Gardy “talks” to the media daily !!…Commercials are fun and entertaining…”Joe Mauer and his side burns”…”The piranha pool going for baseballs”…
When you watch the Twins you feel like your part of their family…Fans are excited to know when players leave to have a baby…And we are sad if they leave for funerals…
Vikings close the door when exciting things are happening ???…Like now..
Re Vikingsbowl09: Not sure where you’ve been the last two years, but the Vikings have done rather well in the off season acquiring players. Zygi and the crew can be proud of what they’ve done.
Now, whether how they went about in what they have done is up to debate, and what they haven’t addressed, still the fact remains they HAVE been busy spending money and getting in some good players over the last 2-3 years.
Face it…more people in Minnesota like the Twins (baseball) than the Vikings (football). BUT hey……..hockey is now the Official Sport of the State!
but the twins shut their doors every off -season, they never tell us who they are aiming for. they dont say if they are going to go out and spend money or be greedy. at least the vikings let us know if they will spend money or just add on to the talent we have.
Vikingsbowl ~ True enough…They “do” shut things down in the off season…
I guess it just seems football really doesn’t have an off season anymore…Maybe to much is being expected this time of year ??…GREAT POINT !!!
lets see last year they picked up a number 1 WR that on any other team would be a #2 WR. not saying picking up Allen and Williams was not big, but this year we picked up 2 4th string players. and it just seems the vikings always go for the 2nd or 3rd string players, and they dont always turn out. Chester Taylor is really the only person to come from being a 2nd string and kill as a starter. but than u look at all the WR we have picked up none other than Berrian have come close to getting 1000 yards receiving. other than trading for Allen and Hutchington and Williams when was the last time we went out and got a player that was a proven starter?
that is true we do expect a lot durning the off season, i dont know about you but i check football new at least twice a day
4Ever ~ Has a good point too…I think Zygi and Chili have done really well picking up good players in recent years…Spielman working with the draft also…Vikings are right there this year…Favre or no Favre…
I wish I didn’t check so often ??…Thats how a loyal fan can get so frustrated…
You think its worth going after JP Losman and want to be taken seriously? On the teams Sage played back-up for - and not that great of teams - Losman would not have started, either. Losman is generally considered a bust. Nor is Anderson going to take us to the SB. Sage is not spectactular, but he is in that great middle, along with most NFL QBs (if T-Jax is lucky we may someday say that about him. . . )
I suspect Sage understands when the coaches feel they have to pursue opportunities like Farve; on the other hand, I think it would have shown a lot more class for Camp Berrian to just stay quiet about the whole thing. It remains overwhelmingly likely that Sage is the 2009-10 starter, and it would be ideal for he and Berrian to have good teamwork and good chemistry. The high-profile betrayal isn’t terribly productive.
I sure hope Yahoo is right!!! I don’t want that Favra here in MN.
Well if nothing else it has been fun checking this blog every few hours just to see if there are any updates. You guys have done a great job. Still pulling for Favre to play for the Vikes. I would like think that if the Yahoo! report was accurate, we would have heard a statement from the Vikings confirming that they are not pursuing Brett Favre. Hopefully tomorrow Wilf and Co. decide to break their silence!
I would rather take a player that has started a whole season than a player who has not played in more games than 9 in a season
I think Sage will be an “above average” QB for the Vikings…
If I were to put T Jack on the same scale…”below average” to “poor”…
I think if Sage plays a full year behind center…He will fall into a “good” QB for the Vikes in the final 4 games of the year…
Favre would be rated “good” day one…And “very good” by mid season (if he stays healthy)…
I would stay with the QB’s we have this year if the Favre deal falls through…And go “big time” after Tebow in next springs draft…No matter how Favre,Sage,T jack, or Booty work out this year….I think Tebow has a fantastic future in the NFL…
I think Sage would do OK behind the big O-line of the Vikes…
Tebow would be good for the vikings if the viking ran a spread offense, but we dont, i am really not a fan of tebow, but i do agree some what with how u graded the QB, but if T-jack got a chance to play a whole season i think he would be a good QB, but he has not gotten that chance, the chance the Rodgers got or even Cutler got. But Tebow will not get taken in the 1st rd. he will drop just like troy smith did. cuz he is a system QB
Hey, Bleed! The connection between Chad Greenway and Tony Oliva is Tony O’s wife is from the same general area in South Dakota.
I would like to grade T Jack better..Because I like the guy..
I really do…But he just doesn’t read coverages well…Its just something he should have learned to do a lot better by now…The Vikings are running a pretty vanilla offense too…They are not setting him up for hard reads on defense…
One reason I was hoping Favre would come in…You can learn a lot from watching his reads..Pump fakes..The way he hides the ball dropping back…
I read Tebow is working a lot under center now…And with his foot work…I will be keeping a close eye on this guy through fall….
if he can switch to a pocket passer fair better in the NFL
Hey7 Kenny ~ I didn’t catch that…
Tony O ~ What a guy !!!…
He could hit balls out of the park that bounced off the plate before they hit his bat !!…
he will fair better
It will be interesting “how many” QB’s they will have projected to go in the first round by next spring…Cris Stueber has the Vikings taking Tebow in his 2010 mock draft (yes I’m already digging)…hahaha
He has Bradford,McCoy,and Tebow going in his first round so far next spring…
What Florio fails to mention is why he seems to be so important that the managing editor for Yahoo Sports would contact him to stand up for his writer?
Seriously, and we are supposed to believe this.
If Yahoo Sports is so concerned about protecting their writer, they should post something on THEIR site to that effect.
But no, they don’t want to put their professional reputation on the line. Why, because they aren’t sure.
Favre ain’t signing with Vikings no way possible it happens.
are biggest probkem is the coach. Is he going to let Farve run the offense or try and controll it and get Farve mad.
JDUBBS, so true, if it was true u wouldnt care what other sites are saying about it, especially Blogger sites. I think Yahoo is on the verge of other being right or completely wrong and as the days go on they are thinking they are wrong so they are becoming desperate to find a way to cover their selves.
Yahoo didn’t stand behind anything “until” Charlie Walters
P Press had a little message in his “don’t print that” area…He thinks Brett might turn down the Vikings Monday..Saying his torn bicep being the reason to “stay retired”…
Then about an hour later this morning “Yahoo” says they intend on standing behind their retirement
posting !!…”coincedence” ???

Well dickie62 I would love Brett on our team. He’s not my first choice, but he’s my first ahead of our three dorks.
Judd, in your estimation which is worse. “reporting” on favre’s retirement or having “worked” with Kevin Seifert?
