Report: Favre sent X-rays to Vikings

May 8th, 2009 – 2:47 PM by Judd Zulgad

This should come as no surprise.

ESPN is reporting that Brett Favre sent X-rays of his right shoulder to the Vikings for medical evaluation. That was the news portion of an alert that just came out. We’ll track down more ASAP. At this point I’m done guessing what this guy might be doing.

This comes a day after Yahoo! Sports reported that Favre was going to retire. The key thing to keep in mind is this: Favre’s decisions change by the minute.

Here is the complete ESPN story. Below is the key portion of it:

A source close to the situation told ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap on Friday that X-rays of Favre’s right shoulder — he has pain resulting from a torn biceps tendon — have been sent to the Vikings and that the X-rays are in the process of being evaluated. If it is determined by Favre’s and the Vikings’ medical people that he needs anything less than “major” surgery on his shoulder, Favre will un-retire to play for the Vikings, the source said. If “major” surgery is necessary, Favre will remain retired, the source said.

I still think Chili should give Judd and Chip “something” to work with soon…

Fair is fair…Chili let us have a statement that makes no sense what so ever !!!

But something !!!!!

According to what I have read, Favre will join the Vikings IF he doesn’t need major surgery. If he does, he will stay retired.

You took the words right out of my “key pad” Tomb !!!…..: )

all in fun…

They are checking the X-ray for “extensive” damage to the shoulder…The tendon isn’t such a big deal…But are making sure the inner structure of the shoulder is in good shape…

Anybody else get the feeling that when Judd read this latest scoop, a string of expletives flew from his lips?

The phrase “staying retired” is actually redundant. Retired is a definitive adjective. Similar to “sold” or “dead”. The words are intended to stand alone.

Therefore, I am not convinced that Brett Favre has retired.

(I actually know very little about the English language, and what I just said there may or may not be true, but you gotta admit, I made it sound like I teach English grammar.)

Hope Judd or Chip can get some kind of comfirmation from Chili ???

Thats the weird part of all this ??

Tomb... says:

My favorite part was: “At this point I’m done guessing what this guy might be doing.”

That made me laugh. “This guy” he says.

Comic gold.

I would be REALLY frustrated if I was Judd too !!!

He is trying not to report anything but “facts” straight from Chili !!

But what do you report when Chili doesn’t make himself availible for comment for 2 days !!!

When this is a VERY important news for the Viking organization !!

I would be pissed too !!!

Tomb... says:

May 8th, 2009 at 3:21 pm

Agreed, when you need the football variant of “deep throat” just to get any information, that’s gotta be frustrating.

You need a mole in the Vikes organization, Judd.

I bleed purple says:

Go over Chili’s head Judd…Go stand in front of Zygi’s house with Rachel !!!

People will start talking then…: )

I bleed purple says:

May 8th, 2009 at 3:23 pm

I mean about you and Rachel !!

We are getting sick about the Favre thing !!!…..: )

I TOLD YOU GUYS THIS IS FAR FROM OVER! THAT YAHOO STORY WAS ALL BULL! IF FARVE’S ARM CAN GO HE WILL BE A VIKING.

Tomb... says:

Yahoo! sports gained credibility for breaking the U Conn b-ball story, and may have just lost it with this Favre nonsense.

Short shelf life for them, I guess.

i kinda figure something was wrong when yahoo posted favre turned down vikings.this X-ray will tell all in few days.if favre do not need a major surgery done on his shoulder he will agree to minor surgery on his tandem in his bicep.a commentator on ESPN said with he had same problem that favre had when he played football.with right tandem in bicep if it can lead the pain up to the shoulder causing a great deal of pain.with surgery on that bicep favre can be back to health before training camp.

What do ya think Tomb ??

Will Chili “confirm” anything tonight ??

My first post to this blog, ever…

Just trying to visualize the Vikings offense with Brett Favre throwing to Berrian, Harvin, Wade & Rice… while defenders are worrying about Adrian Peterson.

Who are they going to cover?

If Favre is healthy, Peterson could run for 2,500 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Booya!!!

Tomb... says:

May 8th, 2009 at 4:09 pm

bleed, I TRULY believe that he may or may not, depending on whether he does or doesn’t.

But don’t quote me on that, 75% of the time I’m only half right, 100% of the time.

I guess I can cross Yahoo Sports off my list of credible sources. I had a feeling their story yesterday was bull.

I can honestly say I will not react to anything anymore until I hear it from Farve. Why get worked up anymore?

sodak22 says:

May 8th, 2009 at 4:17 pm

so the procedure to rupture the tendon completely is not considered major surgery, correct?

B. Grant says:

May 8th, 2009 at 4:18 pm

So who’s the “source” this time. A guy in the Hatesburg post office who held a large envelope up to the light? Let’s learn our lesson from earlier in the week and just take this for what it is: An unconfirmed rumor from an unidentified source, with nothing from any of the parties involved.

That’s why Judd and Chip are credible. They tell us where the report is coming from so we can take if for what its worth.

B. Grant says:

May 8th, 2009 at 4:21 pm

No, Soda, but it sounds like it really hurts!

I bleed purple says:

May 8th, 2009 at 4:23 pm

Still haven’t heard from Favre or Chili yet ??….

Until Chili or Brett talk…I am not biting on anything…

The X-ray thing makes sense…But still not confirmed from winter park ??

I bleed purple says:

May 8th, 2009 at 4:27 pm

sodak ~ No…the tendon sugery is minor…They are looking at the “surrounding areas” though too…

The over-all health of the shoulder….

ilviking says:

May 8th, 2009 at 4:51 pm

My sources still tell me that Favre is in as long the Vikes are ok with his arm. He has been throwing and only experiences pain when he throws sideways away from his body. As far as throwing downfield, no problems. I know this is crazy but, from what I am told it is gonna happen.

adpeterson28 says:

May 8th, 2009 at 5:58 pm

the only reason favre sent those x-rays was because he wants to so chili that is arm is ok to go

adpeterson28 says:

his* arm

Tennis_player says:

May 8th, 2009 at 8:04 pm

ilviking, the sideways away from the body pass will be going to Harvin on the bubble screen this fall. This might be the dealbreaker!
