Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer gave an audio update on the Vikings interest in Brett Favre on Tuesday and he reported that the Vikings are “split” on whether to sign Favre and that the organization has not yet met to discuss the situation.
For those unable to access it, here is part of what Glazer said:
“Brad Childress and Brett Favre are scheduled to meet later this week. However, the Minnesota Vikings have not taken it that far as an organization. This is just Favre and Brad Childress. That’s all it is right now. It’s Favre meeting with Brad Childress. The organization has not yet met to discuss the possibility of signing Brett Favre.
“The organization is pretty much split. Right now, a lot of people in the organization who feel, ‘Hey, we’re below the radar right now. Everybody is focusing on the Chicago Bears because they have Jay Cutler. Nobody is really looking at us right now. All we have is Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson.’ That would put them obviously well on the map and well over the radar, if you will.
“Also, you have to look at it from the Green Bay Packers stand point. If Brett Favre one day wants to come back and retire a Green Bay Packer, obviously it’s best for him and the organization [that he stays retired.] If he goes out of his way to play for their archrivals, the Minnesota Vikings … that will certainly not sit well with Green Bay Packers faithful. They obviously will not look at this in a kind manner.
“I think everybody I have talked to in the league looks at it and says, he just kind of needs to get over it. Just let the entire situation die. Just let it be and let the healing process begin.”
