Report: Favre asked for release twice

April 29th, 2009 – 11:38 AM by Judd Zulgad

Brett Favre asked for his release twice from the Jets and was granted his wish the second-time around, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. With the Jets having drafted Southern Cal quarterback Mark Sanchez in the first round of the draft on Saturday, the Star-Ledger reports “Favre figured he could force the the Jets’ hand and gain his release.”

It was widely reported that Favre asked the Jets for his release around the time he retired, although the quarterback’s camp denied that. Here is the item. I know you’ll be shocked to find it mentions the Vikings.
