I had a chance to talk to middle linebacker E.J. Henderson tonight after he met with a group of kids who are participating in his Urban Youth Outreach program, which is part of the E.J. Henderson Youth Foundation.
Henderson said his left foot is completely healed and he’s participating fully in the offseason program after dislocating two toes in Week 4, which required season-ending surgery. Henderson smiled when I asked him about getting to hit someone again.
“It’s going to be exciting,” he said. “I’m looking forward to camp. Those offensive guys are going to be mad at me this year.”
Henderson had not missed a game since the 2005 season so naturally he said it was strange being on the sidelines.
“It was tough, I’m not going to lie,” he said. “But after awhile, you say, ‘I’m not going to be able to play. No use wracking my brain over it.’ It was bittersweet. We won the NFC North but I was on the sidelines watching. It was good to see those guys succeeding. I thought the defense played well.”
Henderson also had reason to celebrate though. His daughter Emari Nichole Henderson was born on New Year’s Eve.Â
“She’s doing good,” he said. “It’s cool. She’s starting to smile, sit up, turn her head. She slept about eight hours last night so I’m not going to complain about that.”
Henderson, who said he actually lost five pounds and now weighs 240, described his injury as a “blessing in disguise.”Â
“You realize how much you do love football and how much you miss it,” he said.
Henderson brought a group of his teammates to talk to the kids in the urban youth outreach program, which provides life skills training. Henderson said about 50 kids participate in the six-month program right now and he hopes to have 150 by the end of next year.
The group of Vikings players who attended were Erin Henderson, Karl Paymah, Glenn Holt, Fred Evans, David Herron, Jayme Mitchell and Derrick Roberson.
first yes!!!!!!
Ok, I’ve heard all those names before except Derrick Roberson. Who the heck is that?
DRobertson is Chilli’s ex baby sitter…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good question. Nobody’s got any stats on him. Looks like he may have been on Houston’s practice squad or something the last couple of years. He’s a CB out of Rutgers.
David Herron?? Ok wasn’t he a 2 nd round bust at LB in like 89 or so??
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tice-
it doesnt count unless you say something about the article. Those are the rules. I didnt make them, but we have to play by them. 1st is now awarded to Goal Line Blitzer, congrats Blitzer!
EJ is a beast. Losing him just may have cost us a game or two. Who knows maybe even a shot at a 1st round bye. Think about it.

AK, agree with your 7:27 where you question if all three QBs will go before #22. We tend to believe all this regurgitated speculation.
That said, I think its about 65% to 75% sure Vike PLAN to take Offensive Tackle first round. Now if Eagle, Redskin, Buc and everyone else is taking OT it is possible Vike will take an impact player and wait on the OT until # 54.
The Offensive Line is not in good shape. Diminishing Returns on AD’s offensive production have a lot to do with the OL play. Right side of line has not been moving defenders out and this has to be addressed
Pure speculation but my guess is Bengal are talking to the Raider about a draft pick in exchange for Ocho Cinco Johnson. And the pick they’re talking about isn’t Raider number seven but Raider’s #39.
And Al Davis is probably telling Cincinnati that its too much for a guy with a 52% reception record… Hey, he might be as good a receiver as Boldin (71%) but who else is in the market for this young man?
Should Vike offer up 2nd round pick (number 52) for either Boldin or Ocho Chad?
It’s going to take a least a first rounder to land Boldin (likely a first and a third). Chad is also commanding a first and the Bengals are holding out for more.
How much did the Viking’s get for Moss? It’s tragic, they haven’t come close to replacing him, but the price seems to have gone way up. Berrion is a good player, but you can’t compare him with Moss.
Oops, my bad. I forgot, the Vikings did get a first rounder, it just seems like nothing because they used it for T-Will. That’s an easy pick to forget!
Reflecting on the Moss trade is never a good idea. 5 years later and we have NOTHING to show for sending the best WR in the game out of town. Red’s last slap in the face to Minnesota football fans…
We got Jaymar Johnson with our 6th round pick in last year’s draft from the Williamson trade. So, it’s not nothing. But yeah, I get the frustration. Thanks a lot Red.
We got Napolean Harris for Moss also I think. He just left and then came back. Moss left, maybe he will come back. First Childress has to leave and come back.
Fire, Bones, Fargo? Any thoughts on Childress leaving and coming back, LOL! ! !
Chilli can come back as a popcorn vendor. Well maybe not….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!
Didn’t we get a 6th or 7th roud pick too? We drafted some guy named Adrian Wilson a DB from Rocky Balboa State U….. or something like that…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought we got 1st round pick, 4th round pick, and N. Harris for Moss..
From Wiki.:
Trade to the Raiders
On March 2, 2005, Moss was traded to the Oakland Raiders for linebacker Napoleon Harris and the Raiders’ 1st round (7th overall, which Minnesota parlayed into WR Troy Williamson) and 7th round picks in the NFL draft. Adding a player of Moss’s caliber generated a lot of optimism,[15] but the Raiders’ poor play continued after acquiring him. Nagging injuries limited his production, as well as what some saw as his unwillingness to play. Moss’s own controversial remarks to the media drew more negative attention.
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!
1st, Napo, and a 7th is what I remember.
I think part of the Moss thing was that his contract would be coming up after that season too, correct?

Madden just retired from broadcasting. Just an FYI.
