Talked to Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin earlier this evening. He sounds like a guy who just got a nice pay bump, although he wouldn’t reveal any details of the contract extension he signed with the Vikings today.
“Let’s just say I’ll be around a few more years,” he said. “It’s similar [in length] to my rookie contract.”
That was four years and ran through the 2009 season. Now, the 26-year-old is a Viking beyond ’09.
“I’m definitely happy because of where this team is heading,” he said. “I love where the defense is. I love where the offense is. I love the coaches. I think the Vikings are putting together a team to make a run at the Super Bowl, and I’m glad to be a part of it.”
In a statement released by the team, coach Brad Childress said: “We are glad to have Cedric as our right cornerback going forward. He is an aggressive, physical, contact football player, whose best football is in front of him.”
