A text message to T.J. Houshmandzadeh’s agent asking if he still expects a decision tonight was greeted with a one word response.
“No,” agent Kennard McGuire wrote.
So it looks like a decision likely won’t come until tomorrow. Houshmandzadeh is going to spend the night in the Twin Cities and consider contract offers from the Vikings, Bengals and Seahawks. Presumably there will be an announcement tomorrow.
We’ll keep you posted on anything we hear throughout the night.
First?
Ok. I have to get up early tomorrow so I am going to bed in the next couple of hours. I better have a decision when I turn on my computer in the A.M.
Not a big fan of this delay, however, I am pleased he’s still in Minneapolis and not headed to NY or Philly. Lock em up Vikings!
Would the situation with Corey Smith and Marquis Cooper being missing off Florida have a bearing on any announcement.
Reports are that the fishing boat is almost unsinkable. Families are still optimistic.
Its a poor day to be announcing a Free Agent signing. Maybe they agreed to call off the signing until the morning…?
Well I’ll tell you guys (C&J,)
great job on the updates! Much appreciated.
This day has been like Christmas….can’t wait for the information to come out is just like opening a present when I was a kid. Make my Christmas TJ!!!

Found this on Rotoworld:
The player rep for free agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh confirmed late Sunday that his client no longer anticipates signing with a team before Monday.
Houshmandzadeh is still in Minnesota trying to hammer out a contract. He got offers from the Bengals and Seahawks already. Houshmandzadeh could take a visit to Tampa early in the week if the Vikings don’t meet his demands.

Just saw Zygi Wilf and Rick Spielman courtside at wolves game. What the hell is Rick doing there?
blah…why all the waiting…
Some of my Packer buds are getting pretty restless with ol’ Mr. Ted Thompson. Not even getting Canty to Green Bay for a visit is not good. They have taken a step back in free agency (again). Does Ted get to keep a bit of the left-over cash, or something? It could be worse, he could run the Vikes during free agency.
Argh….
SOURCE: HOUSHMANDZADEH ON HOLD
Cincinnati Bengals Bengals wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh found out Sunday night that free agency isn’t as easy as he thought. A source said that he couldn’t make a decision Sunday whether to stay with the Bengals or go to Seattle or Minnesota.
After spending Sunday afternoon at the Minnesota Vikings facility, Houshmandzadeh checked into a Minneapolis hotel, ordered some room service and decided to sleep on his option. He told his agent, Kennard McGuire, that he should have a decision on Monday, according to a source.
Making the decision tougher are the constant calls from his friend and quarterback, Carson Palmer. Palmer is trying to convince him to stay in Cincinnati, and so far, Houshmandzadeh is listening to the recruiting pitch. He had a good visit in Seattle. The Vikings gave him a strong pitch to go with them.
A decision may come on Monday.

T J must be whipped ??..If Carson was a good friend ??..I wouldn’t be asking someone to make a life changing decision that would favor (Carsons) situation !!..Sleep on it T J..
My guess is that it is taking the vikings a long time to fit all those letters on TJ’s jersey
[…] Chip Scoggins of Access Vikings says T.J. Houshmandzadeh does not expect to make a decision before Monday, according to agent Kennard McGuire. Scoggins: "Houshmandzadeh is going to spend the night in the Twin Cities and consider contract offers from the Vikings, Bengals and Seahawks. Presumably there will be an announcement [Monday]." […]
Devin could be right. Houshmandzedah in Persian characters is ” ﻫﻮﺸﻤﻨﺪﺰﺍﺪﻩ “. At least that would fit on a jersey.
“One thing is certain. The Vikings are making a huge push to get a Houshmandzadeh deal done before he leaves the Twin Cities and it doesn’t look like he’s leaving any time soon. The red-carpet treatment from Zygi Wilf, the Vikings owner, began Saturday when he dispatched one the club’s private planes to pick up Houshmandzadeh in Seattle, and has been characterized as ‘a full-court press.’ “
What a joke. TJ Houshmanzilly wants more scratch. More greenbacks. My man is just squeezing the last few nickles from the three teams left in the money spank fest.
Maybe part of his deal is a demand that the Vikes sign Rex Grossman!!
I think they pull this off. Very good player. Now if Sidney Rice can just stay on the field to learn from him . .

Your old Pal Fred has intercepted the following text message between Carson Palmers and TJ Houshamzilly:
Carson: Hey dog, what up?
TJ : Just hanging watching the Minneapolis Timberwolves lose.
Carson: How do you like Minneapolis?
TJ: Where?
Carson: Minneapolis, Minnesota? You know dog, the Vikings?
TJ : Cool. It’s just like Seattle except their rain is frozen.
Carson: Your not really signing there are you?
TJ: Where?
Carson: Minneapolis
TJ: Why not? Their money spends just like everyone elses.
Carson: If I can get the Bengals to move up in price will you stay?
TJ: Where?
Carson: In Ohio.
TJ: If they move up in price, you bet I will.
Carson: Must be cool to think you could be on a team next year that has a chance to win a Superbowl next year?
TJ: Seattle?
Carson: No, you fool, the Vikings.
TJ: Oh, think they will be good?
Carson: Better than the Bengals!
TJ: Who’s the QB for the Vikings?
Carson: No one better than me.
TJ: Hey, I gotta go, something about a new offer and a silver butter knife steak.
Well friends, if Fred intercept more texts, he will send it along.

This was on Rotoworld.com:
The Bengals’ outstanding offer to free agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh is reportedly worth more than Plaxico Burress’ contract.
Burress’ deal pays $35M over five years with $11M guaranteed. The Bengals are willing to make Houshmandzadeh richer than Chad Ocho Cinco. It isn’t hard to envision Ocho reiterating his desire for a raise if Housh re-signs.

T.J. Waiting Until At Least Monday
Sunday, March 01, 2009
Posted By Mike Florio 9:32 PM
Receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh was supposed to make up his mind as to his next destination by Sunday evening.
With the Vikings coming after him aggressively, he’s waiting until Monday. At the earliest.
“No decision tonight,” agent Kennard McGuire told Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
But the signs are pointing to a deal getting done with Minnesota. Jensen reports that it’s believed McGuire and the Vikes are working on a deal, and that the Seahawks, whom Houshmandzadeh visited on Friday, are long shots at this point.
So it’s going to come down to the Vikings and the Bengals, apparently.
Per Jensen, Houshmandzadeh wants to spend the evening talking with his wife, and then sleep on the decision.
As a reader pointed out earlier today, a purple helmet and a pony tail might look good together.

This is the exact same thing that happened with Bernard Berrian. He flew in on a jet from ziggy, planned on leaving that day, ended up staying in Minneapolis and signed the next day.
Wined him, dined him, signed him.
If ziggy made a decent offer we’ll hear word tomorrow morning of the Vikes setting up a press conference in the afternoon.
James Anderson…time to buy some character! You really are not amusing in the least and its really not hard to be decent WHILE being a Vikings fan.

T.J. Housh sat right behind me on the 9:35pm NWA flight from MSP to LAX. He obviously decided not to stay in the TC overnight. No private plane brought him home either.
