Houshmandzadeh remains in town

March 1st, 2009 – 4:31 PM by Judd Zulgad

Won’t get into too many specifics for security purposes, but free-agent receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is definitely going to remain in town for now. He and Vikings executives were just dropped off by the limo of which we have written so frequently today. What we don’t know is if negotiations are completed and Houshmandzadeh has agreed to terms or if talks are going to continue with the Vikings. Houshmandzadeh ended up spending about five-and-a-half hours at Winter Park today. Stay tuned and we’ll stay on it.

Good job there, Juggzy, Skip.

Stay on top of this.

is “security purposes” code for “flight delayed due to weather conditions”?

This is a very good indication. Let’s go ahead and speculate on what number he wears. Welcome Housh!

no, security purposes doesnt mean plane delay due to weather. It means so people don’t rush to try and find tj had they given away the location as to where they went.

Torgo = Dorko

If I was Mr. Wilf, I would spend as little as possible on FA.

Why should he spend money, when you (the residents of the State of Minnesota) are making is clear to him that you will not support a new stadium.

Mr. Wilf deserve a return on his investment.

Canty signed with the Giants, bad news for the packers. I credit Torgo

So now that we’ve got Housh, let’s sign Dawkins.

I must say I’m curious to know how you guys are getting these updates. I can just picture a conversion van driving around the cities following TJ’s limo disguised as a flower van with Judd in the back eating a burrito while listening to the audio feed from the bug planted in the limo. Pretty close?

MeanBone. we have not gotten Housh yet and Dawkins sign with Denver.

Welcome, TJ! Time to get a new stadium now. Good to see that y’all voted in Al Franken to the Senate, but don’t want to build the Vikings a new stadium. Brilliant!!

The Packers only had mild interest in re-signing cole as a backup from what I read on the internet. I read that Seattle gave him a pretty crazy deal based on the dollars involved. I remember when we played him and he was move around pretty easily for a big man.

Now if they lost a free agent that was worth something or was more than a mediocre backup, then that would be something to get excited about.

This was just posted on Rotoworld.com:

Free agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh reportedly may not decide to sign with a team until Monday morning now.
Housh had targeted Sunday night to sign, but Minnesota is putting on the full court press. It may be a two-horse race now with the Bengals also involved.

You don’t suppose he’s just using the Vikings to get the Bengals to up their ante just so he can sign with them anyway do you. Just a thought.

I cracked up.
I could just see Chip and Judd driving around in one of those FBI vans following TJ around

Then they get out of the van and when TJ looks back they put their newspapers up.

Hey Judd! Was that you in the other car stalking the limo? I was right behind you until downtown, where I got a little creeped out by myself for stalking Housh and it not being my job. I’m jealous that you get to get paid for doing that, it was pretty fun.

Joe Reedy from the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Houshmandzadeh is “back on a plane” to MN with “team officials” about 5pm CT. Did the H-man leave the Twin Cities at all? Might be a signing soon bsed on the Cincinnati press…

Michael Smith just said that he thinks T.J. is most likely to pick Seattle because it’s closer to his west coast home.

Houshmandzadeh To Vikes Monday?
Sunday, March 01, 2009
Posted By RealScouts 6:46 PM
T.J. Houshmandzadeh may extend his self-imposed Sunday deadline for choosing a team to tomorrow morning, Bengals.com reports.

Although all indications are that the Minnesota Vikings are intent on signing the free-agent wide receiver before he leaves town, the deal may not be finalized before the end of tonight.

After signing Bernard Berrian last offseason and trading for Sage Rosenfels this offseason, Houshmandzadeh is really the missing piece to give the Vikings a passing game to nicely complement their explosive running game. –Vinnie Iyer

If the vikings mess this up they will be the typical vikings. Signing tj would be an amazing boost to our roster and it would also take more pressure off Peterson and now with a better qb we could really have a great season. Rosenfelds was a good pick up but we need tj. and we have to do something soon cuz our good defense is getting old so we have to win now.
