It appears that T.J. Houshmandzadeh has arrived at Winter Park. A limousine was seen pulling into the parking lot just a few minutes ago.
The Vikings will likely give him a tour of the facilities while officials discuss contract figures with his agent. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
Interest in Carr: Tennessee free-agent cornerback Chris Carr is scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions and at least three other teams, according to the Tennessean. We’re checking but there appears a good chance the Vikings are on that list. Carr would not only provide depth at corner but he also can return kicks and punts. As you know, that’s a big area of need for the Vikings. Meanwhile, Steelers free agent receiver Nate Washington, another player in whom the Vikings had interest at one point, will visit with the Titans today. Tennessee lost receiver Brandon Jones to San Francisco on Saturday.
first
this is good very good it looks like he stayed at one of our lavish hotels get up int the morning at talk #’s
I hope AP is there to put the squeeze on TJH and grease the skids a bit. It does look good though since they were at Winter Park yesterday. Still need to get Birk back!!!
To Krug’s 10 zillion crappies post:
I think that will do it! Quick-hand me the Zyg phone!
Seriously, this is good!!!
Agreed Norseman66 - it does look good especially considering the facts that he said he wanted to play for the Vikings and that he wants to make a decision by tonight and he hasn’t left Winter Park yet to visit the Eagles and Giants. Good fit for the Vikes and should help in re-signing Birk. The Kleinsasser re-signing was HUGE as well (ask AP!)
wow our very own Judd Zulgad of Startribune.com was on NFL Network just now.
As much as getting TJH with the Vikes would help open up the offense, Your O-line has to give the QB some time to throw, whoever the QB is going to be. I would make the case that getting Birk back is more important than getting TJH. Because the center calls out the blocking on the O-line. Not many are better than Birk. 6 pro bowls tells the whole story.
If Housh is at WP this morning and he’s not currently on a flight anywhere I think it’s wrapped up. Unless for some reason he’s trying to move his price up by making Seattle or Cinci up their offers. Overall I think it’s a done deal. Welcome in a new #84 to the Vikings. Hopefully he takes a better number though.
The Vikes probably have no intention of letting Birk go…they don’t know what to offer him and letting him test the market will give them something to work off. See what other teams are willing to do. They can match any offer out there. Personally, I don’t see them letting him go.
As far as the TJ watch goes, look at the logistics of the situation. He’s just pulling into Winter Park, gotta talk #’s, he’s gotta get on a plane and travel to see whom ever. He said he’d have a decision by tonight. There’s just not enough time for that to happen and get the whole another tour, wine & dine in at another facility. I look at it this way…the Vikes are gonna do something. He got three team offers, the Vikes, Bengals and Seattle. He’ll pick from those three, of which, I hope it’s the Vikes, but think he may wanna stay home.
Getting both would be a very good off season for the Vikes.
Yup he was on NFl Network. That was the longest I think I’ve ever seen Nfl Network talk about the Vikings. Right now I’m watching Nfl Replay Saints-Vikings. Do not let TJ leave.
You guys are right on this morning! As someone who drives in 4.5 hours for games, stays in hotels, shops, eats out (we’ve had Vikings season tickets since the Dome opened) I see this as a good move to keep those seats filled. A winning season/team will do a lot–especially in this economy–to make sure we retain those season tickets and support not only the Vikings, but also the MN economy.
Your state legislature, your Gov, Sports Authority, Zygi–whoever–needs to get its act together and build a Vikings stadium to keep families like ours coming into the Cities.
As much as we love the Vikes, we also go to Twins games, Gophers games and have seen a few TWolves and hockey games. Minnesota sports is a regional draw–given the chance to have professional sports in their states, I think Iowa, Nebraska, North and South Dakota would jump at it–because I see license plates from all over the region–incluing Wisconsin when we attend games.
If we get these two important signings–TJH and Birk–the Vikes are on their way to providing a solid team. Now they need a stadium!
if not NY, then we’ll get him…Seattle’s rebuilding and he can’t be “the man” with C Johnson…..
Blonde….I think I read yesterday TJH has a wife and kids……NY vs MN…..
CASE CLOSED!
see ya later……………Go Vikes!
TJH’s wife and kids, meet the Mall of America!
Wikipedia had TJH as signing a 4 yr 39 million dollar deal with the vikes….
Plus another Vikes game on NFL replay!!
Torgo = Dorko
If I was Mr. Wilf, I would spend as little as possible on FA.
Why should he spend money, when you (the residents of the State of Minnesota) are making is clear to him that you will not support a new stadium.
Mr. Wilf deserve a return on his investment.
“If you build it, they will come” is a fantasy in a baseball movie. It will not work with the political knuckleheads in St. Paul
Torgo = Dorko
Vikings MVP = Mr. Wilf
VikingJ you just need to stop. you’ve posted that same message countless times in the past 2 days, and you obviously don’t know what you are talking about. Minnesota has some of the best fans in the NFL. The Vikings sell out every game, which can’t be said for all teams. Besides the money spent on players has nothing to do with the funds used to build a new stadium.
West coast won out
March 1st, 2009 | NFL
I’m now hearing that TJ to that west coast team is a done deal. Anything can happen before he puts that pen to the contract but as of right now it’s a done deal. So look for this story to officially break soon.

What got me to that link above: from The Viking Age
Houshmandzadeh to Sign With Seattle?
Former Bengals DT John Thornton says on his blog All Pro Blogger that T.J. Houshmandzadeh has made up his mind, and will sign with a “West Coast” team. That would tend to indicate Seattle…unless John is hazy on his geography and thinks Minneapolis is actually on the ocean. Of course this is hardly confirmation. And, last we heard, T.J. was still at Winter Park being given the tour. So you can believe Mr. Thornton or not.
Judd, Chip any news? Do they have tied up until he signs or are they gonna bring in Jared Allen to give him a “pep” talk?
Don’t ya just hate the rumour-mongering!!
Not like I am perpetuating it or anything!!
by west coast team, that could also mean that the team runs the west coast offense.
John Clayton on ESPN was indicating that Seattle has a slight lead over everyone else here as well. Come on Vikes - bring him in!
