Rosenfels trade official

February 27th, 2009 – 9:17 AM by Judd Zulgad

The Vikings have yet to put out a press release but ESPN is reporting the Sage Rosenfels trade is official and became so when the quarterback agreed to a two-year contract extension. The extension is for two years and $9 million; Rosenfels had a year left on his deal with the Texans that would have paid him $1.35 million. An earlier report had said Rosenfels would sign a three-year, $9 million extension.

We’re waiting to see if the Vikings will hold a news conference to introduce Rosenfels at some point today. The Vikings will send a fourth-round pick to Houston.

Meanwhile, it appears Albert Haynesworth is the big winner in free agency. The defensive tackle has agreed to a reported $100 million, seven-year deal that could end up maxing out at $115 million based on his performance, according to an ESPN report. The key is that $41 million of that is guaranteed.

We will continue to monitor the free agency situation so keep us in your rotation of websites as you go about your day.

Alright! Now let’s get him some pass protection and another receiver! Oh, yeah, and a center too, he’ll need one of those.

When is the free agency period for head coaches? Even Marino couldn’t throw for 300 yards with Chilly as a coach.

The silver lining I think is maybe the reason he thinks turning the ball over is so fun to do is that he’s always been playing in a relief role. If he could be the starter somewhere maybe he wouldn’t be trying to make so much happen and not throw an interception for every td. I’m an optimist though.
