It seems like a big-time long shot that wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh ends up with the Vikings but he certainly created some excitement tonight among the Purple faithful with his appearance on ESPN.
Said Houshmandzadeh: “I’m looking at teams I think have good coaches and good offensive lines and good running games. I have no idea if those teams are interested in me. If I can play with Adrian Peterson, can you imagine what I would do getting one-on-one coverage with Adrian Peterson? I am going to win 98.6 percent of the time with one-on-one coverage with him in the backfield.”
This might be true but Houshmandzadeh is reportedly looking for a deal of upwards of $10 million per season. That would be a major investment in the receiver position considering the Vikings gave Bernard Berrian a six-year, $42 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed last March.
A call to Houshmandzadeh’s agent was not immediately returned. We’ll give Kennard McGuire a pass since we’re guessing he was plenty busy into the early morning hours. As many as eight teams are expected to make a run at Houshmandzadeh.
By the way, Chip just confirmed that Nate Washington, a receiver in whom the Vikings are interested, will be visiting with the Detroit Lions today. Washington is likely going to be looking for between $7 and $8 million guaranteed.

t.j.! t.j.! t.j.! or coles!! mostly t.j. though!!!
Zigi… I love you as an owner.. I think you have done a great job. Spielman you have an impecable eye for tallent…. It is a no brainer Normally you have to woo a free agent to get him to sign.. plus the money.. Pay the man get Houshmandzadeh on you private Jet Mr.Wilf.. Break out your finest vintage.. Take him out to dinner in the Cities with Chili and AP.. Do it I implore you if its a possiblity.. I never thought it would be possible I didnt think a guy of that caliber would be interested in coming to this Frigid hell called Minnesota.. But since he is Close the deal…………
Dont even waste time with Washington.. If you can get Housh for only 2 mil more then where is the hold up… Mind you that is easy for me to say since its not my money… But $200.00 a year comes out of my pocket in the Vikings name… That includes pizza and $3.00 soda’s but still..
A little winning and a RB like AP goes a long way in having free agents start to target YOU, rather than the other way around.
Season ticket sales will sky rocket if the Vikings bring in a new QB and TJ Houshmandzadeh. I’d buy my Housh jersey tomorrow, just to see if my shoulders were big enough to wear it.
Keep up the great work guys, I’ll check back in the morning for any signings or players coming to visit.
i cant even imagine, in this economy even, a blacked out game in minnesota with berrian screaming down the sideline and tj whosyourmama making first down after first down and ad running defenders over at will!! make this happen!! spend the money while ya got it!!
I’d love to see it happen but Judd’s right, it’s a long shot.
From ESPN.com…
The Bengals are close to re-signing wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, according to the National Football Post. The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants are both interested in Houshmandzadeh.
Sure, but what does Juggzy’s barber think.
Maybe we should send him to the airport tomorrow a.m. Get his barber to keep an eye out for over-sized packages.

[…] T.J. Houshmandazadeh is by far the top receiver available in free agency. It’s unknown right now whether the Vikings are targeting him, but T.J. has let it be known that he is certainly targeting the Vikes. Appearing on ESPN, the soon-to-be-former Bengals stand-out said: I’m looking at teams I think have good coaches and good offensive lines and good running games. I have no idea if those teams are interested in me. If I can play with Adrian Peterson, can you imagine what I would do getting one-on-one coverage with Adrian Peterson? Please pick up TJ Housh, hes already said he wants to come here, plus we got lots of money to spend in free agency, Dont waste ur time and money on Washington, he’d just be another reciever who can catch the ball, I’d pick up TJ Housh, and Jason Brown cuz we need another lineman, Brown could play right guard for us, and just gotta say Rosenfels was a bad pick up, should of signed jeff garcia but i guess we dont wanna win
meant to say Washington woul be another reciever who cant catch the ball
get tj and let him mentor rice and help berrian get better and get a ol man in fa and trade up to get sanchez or stafford
