Daly departure official

February 2nd, 2009 – 3:11 PM by Chip Scoggins

The St. Louis Rams made official today the hiring of Brendan Daly as their new defensive line coach. As Judd reported on Thurday, Daly joins Steve Spagnuolo’s staff after serving as a Vikings assistant defensive line coach the past three seasons. Here is the announcement on the Rams website.

The Vikings have not yet announced their new special teams coordinator to replace Paul Ferraro, who also joined Spagnuolo’s staff as linebackers coach. Brian Murphy is the Vikings assistant special teams coach who could end up with the new title.

The overwhelming feeling in media reports is that Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley will end up getting the Kansas City Chiefs head coaching job. Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier’s name was mentioned in media reports as a possible candidate after Herm Edwards was fired, but an NFL source said Frazier has not been contacted and would likely decline an interview.

Watching the Super Bowl last night reminded me that the Vikings play both the Cardinals and Steelers on the road next season. They also play the Baltimore Ravens, who lost to the Steelers in the AFC title game.
