Frazier: I did everything I could do

January 18th, 2009 – 9:12 PM by Chip Scoggins

I just spoke briefly to Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, who traveled today to the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

Frazier talked about not getting the St. Louis Rams job and his belief that he will get a head coaching job some day. Here is some of what he said.

(On the Rams decision to hire Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo) I did everything I could do. I’m honestly not disappointed because I have such a good job here with the Vikings. Sure I felt like I could have helped the Rams. But it [getting a head coach job] will happen one day. I believe that. This just wasn’t the time.”

(On a report that Rams owner Chip Rosenbloom favored him over Spagnuolo but GM Billy Devaney recommended Spagnuolo) I heard the same thing. But I felt like I put my best foot forward in the interview. I felt good about it.

(On his disappointment after interviewing for three head coaching jobs but finishing just short) I don’t worry about that. I honestly don’t because it is an exciting time for us here. I feel like we’re on the verge of doing some great things here. I’m excited for next season because I think we’re right there knocking on the door.
