John Harbaugh, a long time assistant who has led Baltimore to the AFC title game in his first season as head coach, had some advice for the Denver Broncos after the Ravens upset the Tennessee Titans on Saturday. “[They should] hire Leslie Frazier,” Harbaugh told the Denver Post. “That’s my advice.”
The Post reported that Frazier is receiving serious consideration from the Broncos’ five-man search committee. Harbaugh and Frazier have a relationship dating to when both men were on the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff.
“He’s a tremendous X’s-and-O’s coach,” Harbaugh told the Post. “Players will respect him. He’s a great organizer, a motivator. He’s just a real good man.”
If the Broncos do decide to hire Frazier, there could be some competition. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported today that Frazier won’t receive a preliminary interview with the Rams because he’s already been skipped through to the finalist list. The paper reported Frazier will talks to Rams officials on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Frazier also has interviewed with the Detroit Lions.
It’s looking more and more like Brad Childress will be looking for his third defensive coordinator since he took over as head coach of the Vikings in 2006. Mike Tomlin left after one season to take the Pittsburgh Steelers’ head coaching job.
