So what will Fox show?

January 2nd, 2009 – 7:09 PM by Judd Zulgad

We have gotten our hands on Fox’s schedule for Sunday if the Vikings and Eagles are blacked out on KMSP. Here it goes:

3 p.m. Fox pregame

3:30 p.m. Digital TV special

4 p.m. Law & Order: SVU

5-6:30 p.m. News

6:30 p.m. Fox postgame show

I’m a big fan of SVU but we’re guessing the folks at Fox have their fingers crossed that this one sells out. The Vikings have until 3:30 p.m. Saturday to sell the remaining 3,100 tickets.

Isn’t Law and order an NBC show?

If fox makes 300000k from the games broadcast(read that here I think) they can buy 2500 tickets and keep a good margin on their investment. What’s their problem, they did it for the Lions game.

7:00pm The Office
7:30pm The Biggest Loser

Is there anyway to get updates on how many tickets are left? Also, anyone know exactly how far west the “secondary” market area goes?

They’re selling pretty fast then some company’s gonna step up and buy the rest. I just hope there’s not gonna be too many Beagle fans at the game.

Couldn’t care less, I’ve got my tickets.

Right Champs, number one priority is to buy your tickets. If it’s not on TV, the replay will be on NFL Network and people will have to watch Law and Order:Special Vikings Unit Sunday afternoon.

The game will be televised. Freds just hopes the Viking players haven’t spent so much times telling us to buy tickets that they forget how to play.

Everytime Fred turns on the radio or tv, one of them is telling Fred to buy, buy, buys..

I think the drive to Duluth and back is cheaper than $320 for two tickets. Tell my family up there I said hello.

Maybe Chilli should wear a Greg Brady afro wig if the game sells out, I am sure it would sell out in 5 minutes.

Hey bartender, poor me a stiff one. Then go and play Chutes & Ladders with kaput.

Note to Childress:
-Get AP the ball 25-30 times.
-A screen pass is a good play against a blitz happy defense.
-Roll out Tarvaris to remind him it’s ok to run the ball when nobody is open.
-On 4th and 1, it’s ok to give the ball to AP. Even if the world knows he should get it.
-You only get 3 time outs a half. Use them wisely.
-You only get 3 time outs a half. Use them wisely. (repeated on purpose)
-When you are deciding whether or not to challenge a call, go with the opposite of your instincts.
-Call 2 plays in the huddle during your 2 minute offense.
-On that note, have a 2 minute offense.
-Try a deep pass once a quarter, it actually does loosen up the defense and safeties.
-When you have 1st and goal, give a real effort for a TD instead of being happy with a field goal.
-When you get the lead, step on the throttle and don’t give up for the full 60 minutes. A bigger lead is always better.
-Do not rest AP. It is the playoffs. He can rest starting the 2nd week of February.
-Have a dual backfield of AP and Chester Taylor. This will actually confuse a defense, especially if you play fake to AP and throw a screen to Chester.
-Talk as little as possible during your post game press conference. Or at least just talk normal instead of making up stupid analogies or cryptic statements. You look and sound like Dr. Phil, and that does not instill confidence in the fan base.

They said on KFAN earlier today that the blackout would cover the secondary markets in MN. as well. Thet said all of MN. would black out as well as a significant part of WI. as well ND would be televised

Your old pal Freds has been given great privilage and has obtained a copy of coach Baldeene’s pre game speech. It gives Fred chills.
————————————-

Remember men, the big tree attracts the gale, we will have plenty of opportunity today, if the eyes didn’t see, the hands wouldn’t take. Opportunity will come, but it won’t linger. And don’t forget, a turtle travels only when it sticks its neck out, little by little one walks far. Jared Allen, remember, day of travelling will bring a basketful of learning. Darren Sharper, remember, a cat in gloves catches no mice. Tavarius, a blind person who sees is better than a seeing person who is blind. Team if I have taught you nothing else this year and you have only one thing to take away from this old coach, remember this….a watched pot never boils.

Let’s go get ‘em!

Minneapolis Bartender says:

The last thing I want is the blackout. If that happens it just means more idiotic Queen fans that I have to deal with on Sunday. Stay home and watch the game from your houses that are probably being foreclosed on. Minnesota sux.

GunslingerCA says:

I believe the black out area would cover about 90 miles in all directions from the Twin Cities. That would not include Duluth, nor has black outs included Duluth in the past.

The black out would include Minneapolis Bars. So the aforementioned Moron Bartender does not have to worry. Except to worry about his pathetic life. What is worse, living in Green Bay or being a Packer fan that wishes he lived there?

Stiff Arm says:

January 2nd, 2009 at 9:40 pm

Hopefully TJoke plays the game of his life, Chilli coaches the game of his life and Bartender & kaput have the mating session of their lives with each other…….

Fragile Fred Smoot says:

Freds was sent this interesting article from US News and World Reports. Follows the links if your so inclined:

http://www.dailyredundancy.com/media/cheer/10.html

Then Fred’s was amazed to find none of the top 10 were Packer cheerleaders. After furthers research, Freds found the below article. I guess this explains everythings.

Packers Cheerleaders

The Green Bay Packers once had official cheerleaders, but after the 1988 season the decision was made not to reinstate them. While some Packers fans supported the official cheerleaders, many were opposed or indifferent as they couldn’t understand the poll question.

Helping the Packers make the decision to discontinue the program was a television news poll in which fans were generally split over whether they wanted the program to continue.

Then the Packers’ executive vice president of administration, Bob Harlan was quoted in an official release Feb. 7, 1989, saying: “In general terms, we couldn’t find 12 women in the entire stinkin’ state of Wisconsin who didn’t make us sick to our stomach when we saw them without their plaid shirts and overalls on. On that basis, we felt the appropriate decision at this time would be to continue without them, like we have any other choice.”

Harlan says there are no plans to return to official cheerleaders, especially with Mark Chemura still living in the state.

WOW billings, since ALL of the tickets left run from $80-$160 what you posted is so very shocking. Maybe if dumbasschilli wasn’t the coach and TJoke was in another league the ticket sales AND Viking fans would have alot more confidence in this team.

The key to this eagle game is Chester Taylor. Got to use this guy more often. The eagles are going to stack the line on 1st down, just as sure as I am sitting here. Vikes must use both AD and Taylor at the same time. AD likes to play without a fullback anyways. Put Chester in motion, use split backs, THAT WILL GIVE THE EAGLE DEFENSE SOMETHING ELSE TO DEAL WITH. Got to use all our weapons. When Chester is not in there we should use 2 te’s AND a fullback and just say HERE WE COME, STOP US! Thats what I think.

Lost Viking says:

January 2nd, 2009 at 11:20 pm

Gunslinger,

Would humbly take issue w/ your offensive game plan. Vike running game lacked imagination against Giant. The one big run was the only highlight.

Finally, in 2nd half T-Jax went to some play action and there was Bobby Wade and Shiancoe running in the open field. Simple fakes to AD are easy to sell.

I’d say we have to throw more on 1st down. Sell play action to keep Eagle D on their heels. Take t-jAX out of the pocket on the option role. Throw screen passes back across field to AD. Juggle Chester into the game on 1st and 2nd downs. Stop relying on the I formation to run AD.

Essentially, move away from established tendencies and try to use the whole offense. Once this reverse pattern is set up to throw off the Eagle O then AD will be more effective in 2nd half with straight ahead running.

Lost Viking says:

January 2nd, 2009 at 11:25 pm

OK, something completely different in this week’s Handle…

Line: Philadelphia by 3

By crushing the troubled Cowboy this past Sunday, the Eagle have suddenly become a sexy team. Thanks to the Oakland Raider upsetting the Buccaneer, Philadelphia unexpectedly finds itself in the playoffs and seemingly with some momentum. As is often the case when it comes to endorsing NFL teams, look before you leap. The Eagle are a Jekyll and Hyde bunch. We need only look back to the game preceding the Dallas win to uncover Philly’s dark side with a 10-3 loss to the faltering Redskin. While the Eagle possess the better quarterback, coach and pass rush, they are not a team that can be easily trusted. They can be pushed around as we’ve seen on several occasions.

Enter the Viking. This gang of purple can be a bit erratic themselves but they can also be quite physical. It took until the last game of the year for Minnesota to lock up its suspect division but we won’t condemn them for that. What might be smarter is to look at both their offensive and defensive lines. Both are strong. The offensive line helps one of the league’s best running backs excel as Adrian Peterson is already in the elite at his position. The defensive line has been incredible, allowing a league-low average against the run of just over 76 yards per game. Games in this league are often won in the trenches and with the host having what we believe to be a comfortable edge, accepting these offered home points becomes the prudent play.

TAKING: Minnesota +3 +1.05

j.ay says:

January 2nd, 2009 at 11:53 pm

“I’d say we have to throw more on 1st down.”

Lost, that’s gonna be the key to the game. The Beagles had the best 1st down rushing D in the NFL this year, they stuff the run 1st down then blitz on the passing downs. If Chili calls his usual predictable 1st down runs it’s gonna be a long day.

BIGVIKING says:

January 3rd, 2009 at 12:21 am

I’m putting in a request for Chilli’s KAO to have TJacks run a few designed QB runs like a fake hand-off to the left, bootleg to the right. Drop back to pass, pump fake and run up the gut. The Vikings are going to have to keep those blitzing beagles on their toes. They must attack and make them pay.

Are you getting these Chilli? I know you stay up late reading these posts for ideas.

c.carterhof says:

January 3rd, 2009 at 1:21 am

I say NO with passing on 1st down. I say ONE wr and here we come. They want to go with 8 or even 9 guys in the box, so be it. I say if it has to be 3 yards and a cloud of dust, OK, BRING IT. This is PLAYOFF FOOTBALL. Run to set up the pass. Then those screen passes & other throws for Jackson will be open. Just tell AD that early in the game to put his head down and get all he can. We can wear them birds down. Then that play action will be there.

c.carterhof says:

January 3rd, 2009 at 1:25 am

Hey, gotta play to our strength. On offense that would be our running game. No?

c.carterhof says:

January 3rd, 2009 at 1:36 am

And if we use Taylor to give AD a rest we wont be losing much. As Im sure Chester knows how to put his head down and go. If our vikes win the turnover battle or come out even, and run the ball 30+. Vikings win! Yes its that simple.

GunslingerCA says:

January 3rd, 2009 at 10:15 am

Lost: you can’t take exception to my game plan when you and I agree with the game plan. I think you took my comment of “get” AP the ball 25-30 times to mean run him off tackle the whole game. Some of those “get” have to be with screem passes, swing passes, and the like. I too believe Chili’s imagination needs to come out this game. We don’t have to get away from our bread and butter of smash mouth football, but you need to do something to slow the blitz packages that the Eagles will be sending all day. That is also why I suggested play fake to AP and throw a swing or screen to Chester. I like both in the backfield several times a game, if not more. And I also like other suggestions of rolling Jackson out of the pocket, after a play fake, and giving Jackson some options. I’m very comfortable with Jackson tucking the ball away and running for 5-6 yards if nothing is open. If the Eagles blitz and you roll away from that blitz there should be several options wide open.

I also believe Ferrotte would be a sitting duck against the Eagles blitz without perfect pass protection.

Also, keep in mind the play last week where AP burst for 67 yards and a TD. If we run against the blitz and AP gets past the initial line of scrimmage he will be off to the races!
