Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or at 651-989-5151 or 800-745-3000.

Be sure to save one for Bryant McKinnie. He loves watching the Vikes play. Although he was upset at one point in the Giant game when AP ran into him from behind and almost knocked him down. BMac hates falling down. If AP does that again, it might be “pipe time” for him.

All joking aside as a Viking fan in Chicago, this is disappointing at best. 20K tickets, what is everyone out ice fishing? Sickin’

Totally off topic, but I learned today that the NY Jets fired their coach after three seasons. A total collapse in the last five games of the season, and given that they are opening a new stadium (w/ seat licenses) the FANS started turning against Mangini and the Jets (See Jets owner’s comments).

So my question, when will the Vikes ownership start listing to their fans? Trust me on this, after Sunday’s game the fans (including me) will be calling for sacrificial lambs.

The fact that there are that many tickets left tells me that Vikes fans were not so sure about their team and did not expect to clinch anything. Also, not to many like Chilly.

If Vikes fans do not step up and buy the remaining tickets, there will be a lot of Eagles fans at the Metrodome on Sunday.

$120 plus “fees” plus parking for a upper deck seat? Don’t you think that’s a little steep? I support the team, but not for $50-60 per hour of entertainment when I can watch it for free.

Get over it, your main main Chilly is going nowheres. The Vikes record has gotten betters each year. Even if the Vikes lose on Sunday, your old bald ball coach will be back. Facts are facts, they are division champs, 10-6 and this team is heading in the right directions. Freds has his pom poms out and is loving the ride. Fred will be sitting with his Packer friends asking them all weekend how they think their team will do in the playoffs.

Enjoy it, Fred knows he will!

The Vikings are the great pretenders. They will be exposed on Sunday against the Eagles. I love the Vikings, but have no faith that Childress can up with a gameplan to defeat the Eagles. In fact, for the past 3 years have you ever walked away after watching the Vikings play and say wow, Childress had a great game plan. Every game starts out Run Run Pass, and for the most part the Vikings are predictable on offense. As another poster said, a loss to the Eagles will have Viking fans calling for Childresses head…and justifiably so.

B. Grant says:

December 29th, 2008 at 1:37 pm

You are soooo right Freds. No matter how hard you type, no matter if you use capital letters, no matter how many exclamation points you finish with… Brad Childress will be the Vikings coach in ‘09, and quite likely beyond. People calling for his head are part of the same group that can be found in Chicago, Green Bay, Dallas, Denver, etc, etc, etc.

Face it gang, that Viking locker room is tight, Chili has things going his way, and the Wilfs believe in him. We can either root for the Vikes as they are, or get an ulcer over something that just ain’t gonna happen. I’m not sayin’ people can’t speak their mind, (like I’m doing here), but count me incredibly surprised if a bad day next Sunday leads to a coaching change.

’sup homies. I think the Vikings will have a tough time with the Eagles. I’m in agreement with most people in thinking that a scrambling qb is our worst match up, our only bad match up really. We will need to avoid turnovers and play well in all three phases to beat the Eagles. And our safeties need to finally start impacting games. Go Vikes!

Some numbers:

The Vikings offense finished in the top ten in the following categories: Passing Plays of 40 yards or longer, Rushing YPG, Rushing attempts per game, Total Rushing yards, Per Rush Average, Rushing Plays for 20 yards or longer, and Rushing Plays for 40 yards or longer.

The Vikings Offense finished in the botton ten in the following categories: Turnovers, Fumbles lost, Passing YPG, Completion Percentage, Passing attmpts per game, Total Passing Yards, Interceptions, Sacks Allowed, Fumbles.

The Vikings Defense finished in the top ten of the following categories: Total Defense YPG, Yards per play, 1st downs allowed, 3rd down percentage, 4th down percentage, Passing TDs allowed, Sacks, Rushing YPG, Total Rushing Yards allowed, Per Rush Average, Rushing attempts per game, Rushing TDs allowed, Rushing plays of over 20 yards, safeties, forced fumbles, fumbles recovered, and defensive touchdowns.

The Vikings defense finished in the bottom ten of the following categories: Penalties, Penalty yards, Passing plays of 20+ yards, Pass deflections.

I just thought that was interesting, and thought maybe you all would too.

Krugs,

Your right, coach baldeene is a very conservative (and perhaps boring) coach both in his offensive scheme and well from a personality standpoint. Fred doesn’t think we will see him turn into anything other than what he is,ZZZZZ…

Fred was really impressed with the Giant’s offensive line, they were very goods. Fred thinks we should take offensive linemen with the first 6 picks during the next drafts. Our line is middle of the road at bests.

Viking John says:

Go Vikes

nmVikingFan says:

December 29th, 2008 at 1:55 pm

That is pretty interesting. I’m surprised we didn’t finish bottom 10 in interceptions.

Doesn’t seem there’s been many this year, especially considering how often we make teams throw and that the pass rush was solid. We should have a lot more.

akvikesfan says:

December 29th, 2008 at 1:56 pm

The Eagles are the only NFC playoff team we didn’t face this season. We beat the Giants. We beat the Panthers. We lost to the Falcons because we fumbled a zillion times. We beat the Cards.

We’ve beat three of these teams! Why is everyone so down? The Eagles, like the Vikes, have their up days. But when they’re down, like the Vikes, they are WAY down.

Not saying it’ll be easy, but they’re not going to be able to walk all over us like they did the ‘Boys.

As an out of town Vikings fan, reading these blogs and seeing these tickets available is just more proof of how terrible the fans in Minnesota are.

From booing the team at Halftime against Indianoplis when the defense had shut out Peyton Manning, to questioing his lack of using AD in the 4th quarter when CT is clearly the better receiving back and doesn’t fumble when we needed to pass to win, to the lack of any noise in the stadium the last two weeks, I’m ashamed to be a fan of the purple and gold.

Everybody on this board whines about firing Childres because his offense can’t put up points like it did when Moss was here, when as head coach he should be given just as much credit for having the 7th ranked defense in the league. Is it Childress’ fault that AD leads the league in fumbles?

Thankfully he stopped listening to the people on this board who drove him to bench Tarvaris in the first place…the one decision of his I can’t stand.

Yes his decisions with the clock at the end of the game were questionable, but we WON didn’t we. Maybe it was foolhardy to settle for a 50 yard field goal, but maybe instilling Longwell with the faith that the team trusts him to make that was important. Maybe this long kick gives him the confidence in the playoffs.

When I lived in Minnesota, I used to think it was the packer fans that monopolized ignorance, however, I cannot say that with any faith anymore.

nmVikingFan says:

“Thankfully he stopped listening o the people on this board” This implies he ever started listening, which if he did, would be awesome.

December 29th, 2008 at 2:23 pm

Ebombs,

“Thankfully he stopped listening to the people on this board who drove him to bench Tarvaris in the first place”

You are a clear authority on ignorance. Do you really thinks the reason Jacksons was benched was because the coach was listening to us? Dream on! If that was the case, Colt 45 would have been used to sprays all over the locker room last night and all the cheerleaders would be wearing sweaters that reads “we loves freds”.

Freds is also ashamed that you are a fan of the purple and gold.

Bart says:

December 29th, 2008 at 2:28 pm

ebombs are you an eidiot? Longwell has lacked confidence? People on this board drove Chilldress to bench Jackson? Foolhardy? What kind of person uses that term? Yikes!

akvikesfan says:

December 29th, 2008 at 2:29 pm

Ebomb,

As another out of town fan, I think you’re extremly misguided. Booing the team at halftime against Indy was because the team failed to compound the successes the team had shutting down Manning by putting any points on the board. The fans knew what was coming… a loss. And the fans were right.

CT is the better recieving back, but having AD on the field means a minimum of 8 in the box, opening up te passing game. He’s too much of a threat that defenses have to account for, no matter what time of the game it is, to leave sitting on the sideline.

His 7th ranked defense is a result of good offseason moves. Seeing as Childress is an offensive guy, Frazier is the guy that deserves any coaching credit when it comes to the defense, and the front office and Zygi deserve the credit for defensive roster moves.

Is it his fault that AD leads the league in fumbles? Maybe. Holding the ball is a coachable thing, ask Tiki Barber. Chili has issues coaching superstars. He can’t deal with egos, and while maybe its AD’s fault that he’s developing one, Chili needs to be able to coach guys with egos if he’s going to coach in the NFL.

Decisions at the end of the game were questionable? How about at the end of each half? Of most halves! It’s like they’ve never practiced the two minute drill before. It’s an ongoing problem all year, and obviously still hasn’t been fixed.

So before you look at the people on this blog as lowly packer-fan-look-a-likes, why don’t you look at the title of the blog. It’s called Access Vikings (as in, getting in depth and discussing the Vikings team as a whole). It’s not “Vikings Cheerleaders.” It’s not “Access the Positive Aspects of the Vikings.” It’s just plain old access Vikings. So, if you think that dogging on a coach that hinged this whole team on a small school QB, seems incapable of preventing penalties, has clear disrespect for the fans and the media, and can’t even have a two minute drill in place, then please, visit this site: http://www.positivenews.org.uk/cgi-bin/Positive_News/welcome.cgi

You’ll be happier.

One more thing, EBomb. When Chili got here, he decided drafting Tarvaris in the second round was a better move than snagging Drew Brees off the free agent market. Considering we had a ton of cap space, and that second rounder could’ve been used on a tackle or cornerback… where’s the genius in that?

Dear Coach Brads,

Your old pal Freds just learned that you actually run the team based on the feedback from Purple Blogs. So, Fred insists on the following:

1) Between now and Sunday you implement the “wild cat” offense. And by the way, that offense from this point forward will be called “wild freds” offense.
2) Sidney Rice will throw at least 4 of those bomberuski passes where no one is within 40 yards of catchings it.
3) Viking John will now be the special teams coordinator. Special team meetings will be held in John’s camper outside the dome.
4)During the last two minutes of each half, Freds insists you wear a big clock around your neck like Flavor Flav to help with clocks management.
5) More cheerleaders with jet blacks hair and the white USC sweaters. Fred doesn’t care they can stay USC, that’s fine.
6) You begin using Al Franklin as a tackling dummies. This shouldn’t be a stretch.

Thanks Brads, Fred will post more implementation ideas later.

The Vikings played the Giants for the ninth season in the last 10, and that isn’t going to change next year. By virtue of both teams winning their respective division titles, at some point next season the Giants will make a return to the Metrodome. The Vikings slate of 2009 opponents has already been determined – dates will be filled in and released in early April. Here is the schedule of opponents for 2009: HOME SCHEDULE: Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, Seattle, Baltimore, Cincinnati, New York Giants; ROAD SCHEDULE: Green Bay, Chicago, Detroit, Arizona, St. Louis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Carolina.

Here’s a link that lets you compare 2 teams head to head:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/headToHead

It’s just what you’d expect, Philly is better in passing and passing D, the Vikes are better in rushing and rushing D. I think points against are misleading as far as D cause it’s not just points against D it’s total points against which in our case includes I think 42 pts our coverage units gave up not to mention points given up by our D after long returns.

The bottom line is anyone who thinks they know who will win Sunday is deluding themselves. The “experts” on ESPN like Tom Jackson and Mike Ditka on Sunday gave all the reasons the Vikes were the team on the edge of the playoffs least likely to get in. The 2 teams Vegas had as the preseason favorites to make the SB didn’t even make the playoffs.

The only things we can be fairly sure of after watching the Vikes all year is that it will probably be up for grabs in the 4th qutr (it’s not gonna be a blowout like Philly blew out the Boys) and it’s probably gonna be decided by TOs. Oh yeah, and Chili is probably gonna make at least 1 call clock management decision that’s gonna hurt us.

But without TOs, we’re awfully tough for any team to beat in the Dome.
