Vikings-Bears set for Sunday night

November 17th, 2008 – 4:21 PM by Judd Zulgad

The NFL announced today that the Vikings-Bears game on Nov. 30 will be played at 7:15 p.m. as previously scheduled. That game had the potential to be bumped from the NBC Sunday night game to an afternoon slot that day because of the flexible schedule the league has put in after Week 10 of each season. But with the teams tied for first-place in the NFC North, along with the Green Bay Packers, the league and network saw no reason to make a move. Especially, when one considers the size of the Chicago market.

Hey Chumps, I forget, how much better is the Puckers record than the Vikes?

We’ve got a better division record, and an easier schedule. You have Ferotte and Childress.

My point is, you guys suck too, Chumps…so, you know, settle down. Remember, your team lost to the Vikes.

Sure is good that other things will be on competing networks during the game. Other than watching to see Peterson set a rushing record, who is going to care what new looks Twilight will show for the cameras? Besides, I am sure there will be certain people missing on defense by then. Maybe a coaching disaster on national TV will finally force ownership to dump Twilight.

What an unbelievably arrogant, insulting comment by Childress “that editorialists and columnists are like men that come down from the mountains after the battle and shoot the wounded.” Especially considering the kid glove treatment he’s gotten from the local press.

You really can’t blame Judd and Chip though for not writing more critically about Chili though, they’re not editorial writers or columnists, they’re beat writers and their job is limited to just reporting what’s happening, not commenting on what should be happening. They can ask tough questions, maybe tougher questions than they have been, but they’re not allowed to give their opinions.

The columnists who can do this are Sid, Reusse and Souhan. Sid is just Sid, he’ll never change. Souhan’s most opinionated column was to criticize fans, not Childress, though he apologized for this later.

Souhan’s the only who really took a stand and dared to suggest that we might be better off hoping for short-term failure (losses) for the good of long-term success (a new coach). That was the kind of journalism you expect and you find in bigger newspapers like the N.Y. Times and L.A. Times.

I’m assuming these guys still have to answer to Strib management as far as how far they can go and how often in critizing Vikings management. But they and Strib management should consider Chili’s shot a slap in the face at journalism, and they should consider that the real job of journalists isn’t to “shoot the wounded”, sometimes it’s to shine a light on the battle so people don’t get wounded.

If anything Childress should be fired for trying to find a way to defend Edwards and his cheap shot. What a joke! He’s obviously completely blind, which doesn’t bode well when you’re trying to coach a professional football team. Perhaps that’s the problem!

You saying Twilight could use a seeing coach dog?

BWAA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Since there are something like 24 assistants, how are the special teams, offensive play calling, and Ryan Cook so sucky?

Scott Strohkirch says:

All words regarding the firing of Childress are not being seen by Childress or Wilf. They are falling on blind eyes and deaf ears. They don’t care what we think as long as 62000 people show up at home games they are happy. It has to be a complete state boycott of the game.

When is Rodgers going to get suspended for the allegations of fondling his center?
