Vikings coach Brad Childress just completed his Monday press conference. He touched on a number of subjects, including Jared Allen’s health, Adrian Peterson’s absence in the fourth quarter and heated exchange with running backs coach Eric Bieniemy, Ray Edwards late hit on Jeff Garcia and a quote directed at columnists and editorial writers.
– Childress said he saw Allen today and his right shoulder was feeling better. Allen had his arm in a sling when he left the locker room yesterday and he was clearly in a lot of pain. “Obviously he feels much better today,” Childress said. “But for me to tell you he’s going to be pain free the rest of the year, he’s not going to be pain free until the football season ends. That’s just the way it is. That’s the way it is for a number of guys on our football team.”
Childress said Allen basically has to use the week getting treatment in order to be ready for Sunday. “Seven, eight, nine, 10 treatments a day,” he said. “You can get better. You can feel better. You can take some swelling out of there and get yourself some relief.”
– Childress was asked about the fact that Peterson did not touch the ball in the fourth quarter and whether they could have done more to get him involved. “We tried to get him involved with the kickoff return,” he said. “But there’s limited amount of time and you’re playing a different kind of football generally in the two and half minutes you’re playing in the fourth quarter so whether you would be smart and handing him the football. There’s only a limited number of ways you can get it to him throwing it and they’re playing a defense that kind of legislates against throwing it deep on them.”
Childress said the sideline argument between Peterson and Bieniemy that was caught on TV was overblown.
“That’s par for the course for those guys,” he said. “I think it looks a little bit more overdramatized when I see it running on a [TV] loop 16 times in a row, wouldn’t you say? Football is an emotional game. EB is an emotional guy and so is Adrian and I appreciate both of them for it. That’s how they communicate with each other and I don’t think there was any disrespect intended or felt.”
– Childress had an interesting take on Edwards’ late hit on Garcia down near the goal line in the second quarter. Edwards hit Garcia well after he released the ball, drawing a roughing the passer penalty and a likely fine from the NFL. Childress, however, said he thought Garcia should have been called for intentional grounding.
“I know that Garcia had run around there so everybody was kind of in a chase mode,” Childress said. ”My general thought on that is when you slow things down and look at it on HDTV … football is a full speed game. It happens at full speed. You’re trying make snap judgments at full speed.
“I thought on that particular play [Garcia] had come back into the pocket. I actually felt like that was intentional grounding if you look exactly where it happened. It happened right dead between the hash marks and the ball was thrown out of the back of the end zone to try and avoid a sack, in my estimate. Ray is trying make estimations too in terms of, is the guy going to run some more? Again, flag went down and it was a personal foul. But I think you get a different sensation when you look at it in regular speed. I look at it on my coaches copy.”
– Childress offered this quote at the end of his press conference:
“I read a great quote the other day. It was author unknown. It read like this: That editorialists and columnists are like men that come down from the mountains after the battle and shoot the wounded. I thought there is a certain something to that.”
As always, I am number 1.
Here’s a quote for you Childress. It was said by me.
“you’re in over your head. I won’t spend another dime on the Vikings team until Childress is no longer making the decisions”
Use that one in your press conference. There is an unedited version that’s not fit to print that I use quite a bit as well.

What was the reason for not making a better effoert to score at the end of the first half with 1:49 to go. We were near midfield and should have made a substantially better effort with a hurry up offense and better clock management.
Childress You can take some more quotes from here also. You may find yourself familiar with the subject matter.

From Peter King:
g. How on God’s green earth can Brad Childress have Adrian Peterson on the sidelines for the last series of a game that will go a long way toward deciding the Vikings playoff fate.
I guess we’re not the only ones my purple friends! Enough already.
This guy gets dumber by the day. His only answer about AP getting touches in the 4th Q was that they tried by getting him involved in the KO return game!!!Does he think were all morons? The only reason AP was back there was becuase Hicks fumbled the previous KO!!! It’s funny how Westbrook, Adadi, Ryan Grant and every oter good back in the NFL are on the filed during a game winning drive, expect AP!!Unbeleiveable!!
Get rid of him now Ziggy, before you lose the entire fan base!
“Columnists shoot the wounded”, huh? Well I got one for you!
“Life isn’t like a box of chocolates; it’s more like a bowl of jalapenos and chili.”* And I would order this chili “TO GO”! ! !
*Ben Franklin
Funny…his silly little quote there is a preemptive strike against critics. If you feel the need to be defensive BEFORE you are attacked, then you recognize there is a reason for attack. Brad Childress is SO off of my Christmas Card list this year. THAT’S RIGHT BRADLEY, deal with THAT!
He can find a way to get CTaylor the ball but not your BEST player APAD??? What a dumb fuker Chilli is… Oh yea chilli, Garcia only took THREE steps before Edwards(How many sacks does he need to break Strahan’s record) cheap shot him. Is chilli blind>???
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!!
Nice quote. But a quick end is more humane than this slow bleed. Terminate him. For the sake of the future of our team. Hire cowher.
What’s weird to me, is that it seems like the local media have been treating Childress with kid gloves, and he decides to call them out, equating them with cowards who will only shoot the wounded…
Hey Judd/Chip…seems to me the gauntlet has been thrown…I’m curious the response of the “cowardly” editorialists and columnists.
Go ahead, say it, come on…”Bradley, I’m yo Huckleberry.”
I didnt get a chance to listen to the press conf, did any of the reporters get on his case at all? or all they all still dancing with him and being polite.
If they had to pay to attend and watch these games, then maybe the reporters might be a bit more upset and straight forward with him.
I want to see a TV Commercial, that has the old couple from the anti Norm Coleman commercial…
Old Guy: “Brad Childress… He’s got to go. .. Gotta go…” (shakes head in disgust)
Amen, Doc!!!!!
Hey Judd/Chip, Brad Childress used to pal around with Bill Ayers, you can look it up if you want.
Run with the story.
Yeah, Ray was just mad at Garcia for scrambling all over the frikken place Sunday. Just like Judd and Skip are mad at Chili for calling them cowards, and just like Adrian was mad at Bienemy for being a clueless dumbass by not having Childress put him in the game at the end.
KRUGJR:
What did you mean at 3:19, “Amen, Doc” and at 2:55 when you typed “fu”?
Ok, I figured out the 2:55.
I say it again………when will “the press” just NOT SHOW UP for the press conf…..totally serious, just boycott this idiot……let him know he has absolutely nothing to say that anyone would want to listen to…………
have one camera in the back, though, to film the look on his face when he enters an empty room!
Hey Chilly,
Maybe they were looking for the creator of the battle plan amongst the wounded!
Yea. I’m with you Chili. It makes no sense to use AP on the last drive. He only nearly single handedly scored the winning touchdown in the end of last weeks game. *Rolls eyes*
kr
Tomb called out BC with the line: “Bradley, I’m yo huckleberry.”
I think that’s a great line from Doc Holiday???
Who cares what Twilight says anymore? Nothing will change for these mysterious ways to use your number one offensive threat on the all powerful sideline in the fourth quarter. Maybe Twilight felt that Peterson needed to stay there to protect the KAO’s status of nothing special. After all, how would it look if Peterson made all of the plays at the end for a win two weeks in a row?
BC not using AP in the 4th quarter is the equivalent of Dungy not using Manning in the 4th or Manginni not using Favre in the 4th or Biilechek not using Moss in the 4th! OK OK, you get the point. My point is…if there is anyone that did not all ready think Brad Childess was an IDIOT before Sundays game, it HAS to be OBVIOUS now.
IDIOT!
We are going nowhere with this clown. We need 2 things, a head coach and a quarterback.
Fire Childress Now!!!!!
Fire Childress Now!!!!!
what a BS chili answer on why AP was
not involved in Q4.
eeeeespecially the potential game
winning drive.
F.I.R.E.
Childress can’t coach!!!! He doesn’t have the acumen to truly understand what it takes to be Head Coach and play your top players. He doesn’t know the benefit of pass action plays or QB options. He is strictly one dimensional and all the other head coaches of the other teams know it and take advantage of his stupidity. I doubt, however, that he ever reads any of our remarks here online. I sure wouldn’t if I were him. Why read about who hates you?
Gents,
here is my asessment. It may infuritate some, but we all know this is how it will play out…….
The suspension of these 2 idiots along with Jared Allen getting suspended will result in the Vikings losing several more games. By the time they eek out a win maybe versus the Lions, the season will be over. Final record 7-9 maybe 8-8, Pack win division we get no wild card. Klink aka Major Dad aka Professor Plum aka Secret Squirrel will be allowed to keep his job because of the Williams, Williams, Allen suspensions, attendance will continue to decline in 09, 10, 11 and in 2012 off to LA. You heard the prediction right here. It is time for these losers to hit the road, no stadium on my dime!!!!!!!

Ok Chip and Judd, Childress obviously does not respect you two for being so easy on him.
“I read a great quote the other day. It was author unknown. It read like this: That editorialists and columnists are like men that come down from the mountains after the battle and shoot the wounded. I thought there is a certain something to that.”
Notice he calls it a “Great” quote and that he “thought there is a certain something to that.”
Time to take the gloves off boys, this guy just dissed you in a BIG way.
It’s almost as if he’s baiting you, as if you don’t have anything for him.
DO YOU?
Do you guys have the sand to start calling a spade a spade?
WELL DO YOU PUNK??!!
Sorry, got a little carried away there. . .
This is incredible — Childress needs to go. Find a way to give AP the ball.
How about this? 3rd and 8 with 2 minutes to go. “Montana, your on the bench. Who hasn’t played yet?” Or maybe the pats need a hail mary. “Moss, take a seat, I want the tight end to run 55 yards for a jump ball” Can you just imagine…..
when is chili gonna have the water boy try a 38 yard field goal because longwell is more “effective” from 42? what the….? Having AP on the sidelines is like telling Walter Payton “I’m sorry son but on 2nd and 3 your just not what I’m looking for” The only good Chili is the kind you eat on a cold winter day. He’s gotta go!
hey we have to stop wasting our lives and our sundays away. I love it when chilly talks with his throat. and not his heart or his head or his mind or his. wutever
