Vikings coach Brad Childress confirmed at his press conference that defensive end Jared Allen has an AC sprain in his right shoulder and could miss Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
Allen had an MRI this morning but Childress said he had not met with head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman to discuss the situation before meeting with reporters.
”I don’t know exactly what he will be able to do this week or if he will make it to next weekend,” Childress said.
Childress said AC joint sprains range in severity on a scale from 1 to 3. He didn’t know what Allen’s grade was. He said they typically happen when players get dumped on their shoulders.
“There’s a concern [he could miss the Green Bay game],” Childress said. “That’s a painful injury to live with, particularly with the way he plays.”
Allen suffered the injury in the first half but was able to continue to play. We have locker room access later today and we’ll see if Allen is made available.
Update: Just got back from the open locker room period. Allen was in the trainers room getting treatment during the availability period and did not address the media.
Could be an interesting game this Sunday with no Jared Allen the Williams wall! It sure is funny to see how everyone jumps back on the bandwagon after beating a bad Texans team.
It’s funny to see how VS continously makes a fool of itself.
I think we should sign KGB immediately. I heard the only thing wrong with ‘Geebee is he was making a bazillion dollars and was just being used in specialized situations and they wanted to dump their All-Time Sack Leader like they did to their Hall Of Fame Quarterback because they have cheese for brains over there. True story.
I wouldn’t say that everyone has jumped on any bandwagon after the Vikes won Sunday. If they win, people talk positive about them. If they lose, they talk negative. It happens everywhere whether it’s on the public airwaves or around the watercooler. Does talking negatively about a team after a bad loss constitute leaving a bandwagon? Does praising them mean you’re back on? Take the Wisconsin Badger fans for example. They are usually nuts over their football team. When they lost to Penn State a couple weeks back, the fans were leaving in the third quarter. Does that mean they are off the bandwagon? No. It’s means they didn’t want to watch a horrible game. I’m sure they were cheering for them the next week. It’s the same with the Vikes. They are up and down and so are the fans. We praise good games and criticize bad one, but I wouldn’t way we leave the bandwagon.
Maybe the Queens should consider a QB next year, it helps! Looking forward to visiting Lambeau North on Sunday.
this is a wisconsin blog now?
Well saids Sammys
Rub some astro-turf on it and get him back out there…..he is a stud from the Big Sky Conference!!!!!
My old pal Johns…
are you suggesting LT for Bernie Merrimans?
Your a thief.
I’m sure VikesSuck and NFC North Chumps will stay until the end of the game Sunday, even if they are losing heavily.
I said losing heavily, not boozing heavily. That’s a given.
How about a couple of shots of Jack and nice long drive. 75 mill on an alcoholic and still no QB. LOL!

Bandwagon does have a bit of relevance when it comes to our fans. Think about how many games we used to need corporations to buy up tickets to keep from getting blacked out, even when they were still in the hunt for a playoff spot. 15-1 and season tickets were sold out, then afterwards…the Vikings practically beg people to buy tickets and still don’t unless the TV stations buy them up to protect their ad revenue.
Pukers 4-4
Vikes 4-4
What is there for anyone to come here and spout off about? Go give your mailbox another coat of green paint.
… where do Puke fans have any business coming in here like they’ve done ANYTHING this year? 4-4 and you’re talking smack? Yeah, you’re gay. And, I mean that in the homosexual way.
Ha, vike-king! The astro-turf is what caused it so that won’t help. I think head athletic trainer Burt Sugarman gave him a Midnight Special pain shot and a handful of water pills at halftime. But you could tell he was limited because he kept throwing Sage Rosepetals down with one arm. The MRI should be done by now, hopefully we get an update soon.
That’s all right we get the extra home game this week. Hey, H2O pills on me.
I don’t know about NFC North Champs, but I can say that I always stay until the end for the games in the Metrodome.
It’s a lot of fun to get the “Go Pack Go” chant going through out the entire stadium so loud and embarrassing to given that the TV broadcast even picks it. All while the Vikings fans are scurrying out the door.
Oh, come on Freddie. How about a Randy for an LT???
Go Vikes
I thought I saw the Queens coach selling paint at Home Depot this weekend. What have we done, I don’t know just own the Vikings for the last three years. And own that inflatable monstrosity the Queens refer to as their home field, well seven games a year anyway.
Oh no! Jared has a sprain??? Looks like it’s time to fire Chilly, it is his fault, lol.
Thanks Chilly for the good coaching, (something you never hear when we win.)
Calling all wannabe fans, join the bandwagon now that we’re .500 again. Pfft.
Yep, both teams 4-4, neither impressive this year, and you have the Pukes spouting about what they have done in years past…as usual.
Better to have done something than be a queen fan.
The Vikings also got 2 gifts by the ref’s in 2 of their wins. If it wasn’t for some phantom pass interference calls and an obvious non-facemask call, they’d be 2-4.
if TJ was working 3rd string during practice why was he #2 on Sun…..other than the fact JDB’s wonderlic was 14
THIS JUST IN:
East Coast football fans are upset because the Networks cut away from the Titans\Packers game to go to the Giants\Cowboys game. The fans were deprived of enjoying the overtime field goal by Rob Bironas to keep the Titans undefeated. As a public service I’m posting the video of the winning kick which drove a dagger into the hapless Green Bay team:
I think it was said best that the Vikings and Packers are both 4-4 this season and neither team should be bragging about anything. I’ll be the first honest person here and say I have no idea who will win this Sunday. Nobody can state which teams will show up. If I were both teams, and fans of both teams, I would just keep my mouth shut for fear of inserting my foot there on Sunday.
Now then, since this is a Vikings blog:
GO VIKES!!
And to those Packer fans that will be loud in the Metrodome: “Thank you from all Vikings fans for paying for their entire season ticket package with your life savings to see one Packer game.”
Who says it was good coaching Ghost? Sometimes you win dispite the loosers.
Hey NFC North Chumps, it’s hilarious you coming onto this site and trying to talk smack, I’ve been spying on your Milwaukee blog and you guys are all wack. I saw one of your Favre haters post his home address and challenge all the Favre lovers to come fight him. Why did you guys get rid of Favre anyway, did you think it was wise to keep a player who never started an NFL game and 2 backups who never started an NFL game and get rid of the guy who got you to the NFC championship game last year? Are you happy being 4-4 loser? Also, why is everyone in your state terminally obese and sexually fascinated with farm animals?
Thank you from all the Vikings fans for paying for their entire season ticket package???? I walked up and bought tickets at the Metrodome for face value minus Ticketmaster charges. The most I know of anyone paying for their tickets was $20 over face value. Whoooopie! You make it sound like it was the old days when tickets were a hot commodity to sit in that dump. Newsflash! It’s not 1998 anymore…
Local hero Rob Bironas of the Titans must have did his homework before Sunday’s game. He said after the game, “”I was hoping for exactly what happened against the Packers.” Bironas said. “We’d win the toss and get another shot at it. I don’t miss many, so I definitely wanted another shot at it to put us in the lead and go home with the victory against those azzclowns who dumped their all time Sack Leader and Hall of Fame Quarterback, and end up 8-0 on the season.”
Lamblow West, why is it whenever a WI girl gets her ears pierced gravy comes out?
I know these Puker “fans” would start appearing here today, they’re tired of fighting each other over their tard GM and MVP Favre vs. GayRod so they come here to take out their frustrations.
Lambeau West,
You make it sound like the Packers are doing good, News Flash: Brett Favre actually left your Cheese hole, I mean town. News was he was sick of playing for you guys and wanted to play for the Vikings, a team possible of winning the Superbowl.
daunte, maybe you should go back and delete that last sentence if you can
Well, I can’t, but the fact that Brett would rather play here than Gay Bay is good
kenny, daunte’s right, Favre wanted out of Pukeville and he wanted to play for the Vikes.
Hey - Strib blog police. The world turned back their clocks one hour Saturday night. Try to get to that ASAP. Thanks!
Bring it on Pukers. I don’t think your team is scaring anyone in the NFL right now. And bring your fans too. They might like sitting in seats with backs and arm rests. (your “rennovation” brought nice new aluminum benches at Lambelch!)
I heard Lamblow also put in a section of seats shaped like sheep so the Puker fans could get familiar and comfortable.
Hey Coach did you seriously get dressed up like B. Grant on Halloween or were you just kidding?
I dress like B. Grant every day, Jay, uless I run out of crew cut jel. That, and Mrs. Grant doesn’t allow a Viking hat in church either.
[…] Update: Just as I thought…Brad Childress’s story about Jared’s shoulder changed during his press conference. Now it’s only a sprain and not separated. I’m guessing Brad just mis-spoke himself when he told the Yahoo! Sports guy it was separated. I think Mrs. Grant needs a good talking to.
So when Favre said during the drama that his number one choice was to play for the Packers if they wanted him back, he must have been lying, right? Play for a Vikes team that was capable of winning the Super Bowl!?!? Ha Ha!
Yeah, I’m sure he was wishing he could be throwing the ball to the Vikes crappy receiving core vs. the Packers. That makes a lot of sense! If anything, he certainly wanted to play for the Packers because he knew he got to face the Vikings secondary two more times!
It was voted to keep the benches in the renovation to stick with tradition of the field, something the Vikings will never have in the humpty dump and it makes every seat in the stadium a good seat rather than having to build nose bleed seats to fill with traditional seats. Lambeau Field renovation is better than anything the Vikings will have when they have to move to LA. Why do you think every national broadcaster says that if you go to one stadium in your lifetime Lambeau should be the place you go?
For the number of times I get out of the house with my Browning or my Shakespeare, I’m willing to give in on a few of her more pressing requests.
[…] Great game on Sunday. Madieu Williams did a great job in his first regular season action in purple. His interception in the end zone was crucial and his eight tackles made for a real nice debut. I can only think that as he gets up to “game speed” that he will only get better. Bernard Berrian continues to emerge as a deep threat for the passing game. AP got it going in the third quarter (there was never a doubt in my mind that he wouldn’t) and the special teams turned in a great game. The defense, man what is there to say…Jared Allen is a ANIMAL. The last sack he got was just amazing. That being said it doesn’t look too good as for Allen’s upcoming game on Sunday. The game this Sunday is huge (I don’t have to tell you that) and without Allen, the prospect of the Vikes winning is decreased greatly. By mid week I should have a detailed analysis of the game on Sunday against the Packers up for you to check out. I also plan to get some anti packer stuff going this week starting with the Packer Fan Applicationthat I stole from Purple-Pride.com. I ran the Tecmo Bowl predictor over the weekend and that page is up and running, check it out to see how the Tecmo Vikings are doing so far compared to our real life Minnesota Vikings. On Friday I will unveil my Tecmo Prediction against the Packs for the weekend. […]
Quinn starting thurs for the Browns…..
time to offer TJ and a 4th for Anderson
I don’t know Lamblover, maybe its because TV broadcasters don’t have to sit on aluminum benches in cold weather?!? I think they tell people to go there to watch how stupid a football fan can look. Thats what stood out to me.
I’ve been to many stadiums, including Lambelch (I thought I was at an MIACC stadium). Believe me, its not me telling people to go there!
First of all…you can get seats with backs that attach to the benches if you want for $5. They are padded and handy for cold weather games if you don’t dress for the weather. It’s obvious that you haven’t been their since the renovation, because it’s far from a crappy. It’s interesting that it was rated the #1 NFL stadium http://sports.espn.go.com/travel/news/story?id=2569521 and you call it a dump. I even took my Vikings friends to watch their team get destroyed their last year and they couldn’t stop talking about how envious they were and what a classy job they did on the renovation. I’d say you wish was true because your stadium is such a dump, rather than what is reality. Just like you probably also believed that the Vikings were going to go to the Super Bowl this year with T-Jack!
Lamblow, put down the crack pipe for a while! EVERYBODY knows Favre wanted to play for the Vikes! He mostly just wanted out of WI, in fact he was quoted as saying “I refuse to stay in a state where the average weight is 240 pounds and everyone’s related to each other. I don’t even want to get into the sheep love here…” That’s an actual quote, look it up chump.
When was the last time the Viqueens beat the Packers? I can’t even remember. Have fun losing again on Sunday losers. You are all very pathetic.
When was the last time someone was born in WI whose father wasn’t also his grandfather? I can’t even remember. Quick run outside, your lover Flossie is bleeting.
That is all you got. Since the queens can’t beat the Packers you have to make fun of the people from Wisconsin. I was born in Sota so that doesn’t bother me at all. Oh and to the person who said neither team has done anything this year you are incorrect. The Pack has beaten the Queens for what seems like the 10th time in a row. LOL at you all. LMAO. You got nothin!
The only ones scared of the invasion of the Fudgepackers are those in the front row who don’t want to get felt up by the Lamblow leapers. Unless they’re Fudgepacker fans who enjoy that sort of thing.
Oh, well!!!… if you can rent a Wisconsin boat seat for $5 at a Puker game, I guess that IS first class after all. Can you get a cup holder to hook over the neck of the guy in front of you too?
By the way, I was there LAST YEAR. They fixed up the corridors nicely as they upgraded the “worship old Pukers” areas. Fine. And if high school seating is what you want, fine. No one is making you come to the Hump, so exercise your right to 1) do as you please, and 2) remain silent.
To help your memory, bartraitor, the Vikes last win over the Pukers was in Nov. 05, the third of three wins in a row, including a playoff game at Lambut. Now if you could just remember where you parked your car last weekend, huh?
M. Bartender, I remember the last time the Vikes beat the pack like it was yesterday… 2005 playoffs ring a bell?
Good one Coach, Bardrunky has been staggering around for days trying to find that car.
First of all, can’t we just call them Packers and Vikings? You all sound like 10 year olds. Secondly, nobody should be talking smack. I don’t care if the Vikings lose every game for the end of time to the Packers, as long as the Vikings win the division and more in the playoffs. Each team is 4-4. Get it? The Packers beating the Vikings means nothing. They are tied for 2nd behind Chicago! I’ve read many times how people only care if the Vikes beat the Pack, or the Pack beats the Vikes. 2-14 is NOT OK, even if you beat your rival. Now then Packer fans, go to your own blog and brag about how much better you are than the Vikings. You really need to stick with your own people, because nobody else can stand you.
“…seems like the 10th time in a row.” Is that how you count drinks too? Apparently playoff losses are a little easier to forget.
Let me help your memory, “Sota” boy. If we have 10 more years of Childress, then we will START to know how the 24 years of Bengston/Devine/Starr/Gregg/Infante felt like. Two playoff appearances from ‘68 to ‘91. NICE!
We’ll see ya Sunday!
Gunslinger, I will always care more about a win over GB than a win over anyone else. That’s why they call it a rivalry.
Slinger…if you try to stop a pissing match, you know what your clothes are gonna smell like, right?
hope Quinn throws 13 TD passes thurs
Posting on this blog is like pissing in the wind, I’ll give ya that. I just wish somebody, anybody, even a Packer fan, would talk football and give real reasons why one team is going to beat another team. Hint: the benches at Lambeau isn’t talking football.
if TJ was traded to the Denver, would he be able to jump higher?
LOL LMAO at you all. You should see some of the dbags Queen fans that roll in on Saturday nights bragging about how great their team is. Then I get to see most of them on Monday and funny thing is they are not bragging anymore. LOL at you all.
[…] Allen’s sprained right shoulder, revealed Monday by Vikings coach Brad Childress, could cause him to miss Sunday’s game against Green Bay. Speaking to reporters at the Vikings’ practice facility, Childress said there is a “concern” that Allen might not be ready to play. […]
Ok Slinger, here you go…
- The Vikings have won 3 of their last 4.
- The Packers have lost 4 of their last 6.
- The Packers are struggling vs. the run, which happens to be what the Viking offense does best.
- While the Packers have won the last two games at the Metrodome, they have not played very well in either game. This figures to be a very difficult environment for Aaron Rodgers.
The Vikings will win Sunday’s game 23-17. (Ta-dahhhhh!)
(But aluminum benches ARE bush league!)
Hello!
Mr P.B.V., you and I should get together and talk about football. Since we both are really oblivious to the real facts.
Hey Bud! I hate to get off topic, but if you don’t dress as Coach Grant on Halloween, do you mind if I steal the idea? Found this Crew Cut Wig. It’s a dead ringer. Don’t know if they sell too many of these:
It will be great to see the kueers fans(packueers) crying in their beers (at least 1 to many) after the game. I’ll be there;-)
I was at the Pack-Vikes playoff game that Packer fans have conveniently forgotten, here’s some highlights: Vikings fans chanting “Go Vikes Go” and drowning out the lame “Go Pack Go” chants, more Viking fans at Dome-East than I have ever seen Pack fans at the Dome (with the exception of Favre game last yr, I’ll give you that), Vike fans being brought down onto the field by Vikes players after the game and taking turns doing Lambeau leaps (I have pics). Thanks for hosting our party. Why so obsessed with your stadium anyway?….I’ve been to tons of games at Lambeau field, and NEVER heard the fans get as loud there as the Dome (and don’t give me that whole ‘we pump noise over the speakers’ crap that Pack fans have cooked up because they’ve never heard noise that loud). I’ll take our ‘crappy’ stadium anyday with the noise over your ‘historic’ stadium. By the way, the only reason announcers, etc. tell you your stadium is so great is because we feel sorry for you….we know you have nothing else to look forward to in life.
Also, Bartender-weirdo: I lived in Wisconsin for 6 yrs….it never failed that Pack fans talked trash leading up to a game, then surprisingly, nothing was said on Monday when the Vikings won….you are so cool that you got to witness the reverse. Bottom line—this Sunday is a game between 2 underachieving teams and who knows who will win. But one thing will remain the same—Pack fans proving what losers they are by doing things such as coming onto a Vikings blog…..
