Vikings, Packers inactives

September 8th, 2008 – 4:40 PM by Chip Scoggins

Here are the Vikings inactives: Madieu Williams, Marcus McCauley, Maurice Hicks, Erin Henderson, Drew Radovich, Jeff Dugan and Letroy Guion. John David Booty is the third quarterback.

Hicks has an injured foot and it appears Aundrae Allison could return punts and kickoffs.

The fact that Radovich is inactive means Marcus Johnson will be the backup left tackle behind Artis Hicks, who is starting in place of the suspended Bryant McKinnie.

Dugan and McCauley were active for all 16 games last season. McCauley made nine starts as a rookie and opened the season as the nickel. Charles Gordon eventually took over as the nickel and will begin this season in that role again.

Packers inactives

It’s no surprise that center Scott Wells (back) is among the Packers’ inactives tonight. That means right guard Jason Spitz will start at center and Tony Moll moves into the starting spot at right guard. Far from an ideal for a situation that is about to face two Pro Bowl tackles in Kevin and Pat Williams.

Also out for the Packers are wide receiver James Jones (knee), guard Josh Sitton (knee) and safety Charlie Peprah (hamstring). Healthy players not dressing for Green Bay include corenrback Pat Lee, tight end Jermichael Finley and defensive end Jeremy Thompson. Brian Brohm is the Packers third quarterback, meaning Matt Flynn is the backup to Aaron Rodgers.
