Vikings announce cuts; Boulware to IR

August 30th, 2008 – 4:46 PM by Judd Zulgad

The Vikings cut their roster by 20 players and placed safety Michael Boulware on injured reserve to get to the regular-season limit of 53. Here are the players who were let go in the final cuts: (Left tackle Bryant McKinnie has been placed on the reserve/suspended list.) We’ll have more analysis up on the blog as soon as we digest the roster and write a few things for the daily paper.

We had heard David Herron was going to be among the cuts but that was not the case. Herron remains on the roster.

HERE IS THE LIST OF CUTS

Alexander and Daniels along with Nance are surprises to me. Keeping the safety Abdulla (or whatever) was also a surprise.

You guys got Herron wrong. He should sue you.

Herron isn’t in the list but is it finished?

I count a 53 man roster but suspect there are more roster moves coming in the next 24 hours. Agree Nance, Alexander would be mild surprises

Still have 3 FB’s and 3 TE’s. With the O-line problems maybe they try 2 TE sets. Too bad they only have 1 TE that can block. They have 1 TE that can catch. The 3rd TE can cash paychecks.

Tough break for Boulaware. Gone for the year. Boolinger has had time to prove he is NFL, and has not, Booty, still could be, not possible to know, but, my guess is if he doesn’t show some marked improvement he will be dropped soon.

booty doesnt seem to be anyone with a future with the vikes…even at #3, theres better out there after all the cuts have been made….even joey h would be a better man to have around, in the event they ever have to go as deep as the 3rd qb……say good bye to booty soon…

Maybe more roster moves? We are a little thin at safety. This article is interesting. Troy Williamson versus Bernard “drop the ball” Berrian. They are both burners, kind of tiny players. The only difference is Berrian can catch a football. Although Troy caught four for 84 yds. last game. One for a touchdown from Todd Bouman. The Jags did NOT cut Troy or Todd today, surprisingly. This is interesting:

Berrian has dropped plenty of passes.

how about bobby wade … he dropped how many passes the other night … while Nance looked very good …think Boulware would have been cut had he not got hurt … this allows Vikes to keep him and see if he can regain his form from a couple years ago .. also like someone wrote earlier , why would you keep 3 fb’s … almost all teams carry 1 … Chili must be thinking he is really sneaky again … only to show how big of an idiot he is

Hey sdh- ever think that some guys kept on the roster might be there for special teams? Maybe he’s not being sneaky and you’re the idiot? Just a thought.
