Jackson does some work
August 18th, 2008 – 4:30 PM by Chip ScogginsVikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was unavailable for comment today after practice. Coach Brad Childress said Jackson did some individual work and participated in the walk-through.
Childress said he’s not ruling Jackson in or out for Saturday’s preseason game against Pittsburgh.
“He’s treating it just like he would during a normal game week and the push to Saturday,” Childress said. “That’s an important part of it. Guys don’t always feel chipper the first part of the week when they get dinged up but they find a way to push to Saturday. That’s how he’s approaching the thing. That’s how we’re approaching the thing, to play in Saturday’s game.”
Asked again if that means there’s a possibility Jackson might play Saturday, Childress said: “That’s exactly the way we’re both approaching it.”
Childress’ response is not that surprising considering he does not like to tip his hand in anything. No one really expected Childress to tell us that Jackson is out. It still seems unlikely that Jackson will be on the field Saturday.
Childress said Maurice Hicks has not returned kickoffs yet because he wants to evaluate his younger players. Darius Reynaud and Albert Young have been the primary return guys the first two games.
Backup tackle Drew Radovich said he’s gaining strength back in his left shoulder after dislocating it and hopes to return next week.

Wow, you guys complain like little children. Why don’t you all waste more space re-writing the same crap the guy before you wrote. You bums must be elated that jackson got hurt, because there wasn’t much about him play worth b*tching about.
I agree, high, but….is it any different than the joke system that is probable, questionable, doubtful, etc.? Bellycheck has made a joke out of that system, as Brady has been listed as questionable for 2 years now. I’m not necessariliy defending Chili here, cuz some of his quotes baffle me as well, but you are not going to get a straight answer from many coaches on Monday regarding starters next Saturday if they have even a slight ding.

boy the Glass man was impressive in 2 absolutely meaningless pre season games.. giant footballs keep guzzling the kool aid … those games mean NOTHING … wait til the real season starts … pre season stats mean NOTHING

I fully agree that there is no proof until the regular season, and pre-season STATS are worthless. I do think there have been some indications of improvement shown, though. Any agreement there?

He’ll play a series or two. They’ll do the 2007 game plan - hand off to Adrian and Chester. I could get in and QB a series of that stuff, but I pitty anyone who would have to see me in a tight uniform…
Of course there hasn’t been any improvement in TJ. How can the worst QB to ever play the game actually improve?
Forget about what the bloggers and reporters who actually attend every practice and game have to say about how much better TJ looks - the guys on here know much more.
My question is, if you all had your dream and T Jack was gone…then who? There is a major shortage of decent QB’s…who is better than T Jack that is AVAILABLE?

Well, if Jackson is the glassman, then Frerotte will have the opportunity to prove himself. I think he’d wear out pretty quickly as a starter, but…we’ll see.

Brady and Manning have established quite a bit more in their careers than TJoke. That said, I see no reason why TJoke cannot be comparable to say a poor man’s Steve Mcnair or Donovan Mcnabb. Problem is both of those guys have led a team to a Super Bowl but did not win it. I cannot imagine that TJoke can even get the Vikes there let alone win it. Time will tell, but I doubt it.
As for Gus, if McKinnie gets suspended, Gus will become much like a bug splattering on a windshield. It will not be pretty I can assure you as that left side will completely collapse with Fartis Hicks anchoring the OLT spot.

jasonave ..to get all hyped up about what some low level qb is doing in practice is senseless and to attend practices daily to top it off .. wow.. do you wait in line for the free purple kool aid to .. and unlike you I’m wise enough to not believe a word out of a reporters mouth as all these guys are is bobo’s for the Vikes .. if i were to believe all the crap that is written or spoken about the Vikes it’s 16-0 .. and who are we gonna cut cause we have the 80 best players in the nfl you know … I quit the HOMER crap years ago .. I judge based on performances in regular season nfl games not practices or cream puff pre season games
While I agree that TJax should have slid…some of his other injuries are/were simply part of the game…
I’m sure most of you were always complaining about Robert Smith when he was ALWAYS injured early in his career and then they stopped and he had some brilliant seasons!
Most of these injuries are BAD LUCK to these guys…!
