As we speculated in the previous post, Tarvaris Jackson has been diagnosed with a sprained right knee. It appears to be a MCL sprain. Profootballtalk.com also reported the sprained knee.
This almost assuredly will keep Jackson out of Saturday’s third preseason game, which is the most important one because it is the dress rehearsal for the regular season.
It will be interesting to see how much work Jackson will get in the final preseason game at Dallas. Starters typically play very little in that game.
Might as well bench him till sept 8
he could start studying the game plan for that game and recovering and practicing and all
Dagnabit. When does he officially qualify as injury-prone? Or “intactness-challenged”?
How long does it take to recover from one of these, on average?
I’m gonna start yelling “Slide, T-Jack!” whenever he moves with the ball.
Now south don’t go on talking like that they’ll call you a “unqualified 16 year old packers fan” if you critize tom brady jr aka t-run
hopefully this will teach him a valuable lesson. Ray Lewis is big…..he can hurt you.
The report also said Jackson was already riding a stationary bike. It all depends on the degree of the sprain, as to how long or IF he’ll be out. Don’t be surprised if he’s practicing this week - and if he does, he’ll probably play some next week… but I’ll bet he doesn’t run.
After waking from a glorious Sunday afternoon nap, I got to pondering. Wasawa Serwanga did only play 2 years with the Vikes. Perhaps Buster was better than I thought, but then I was reminded last night that there is NFL teams in California were Wasawa finished off his career and Buster played for the CFL. ha ha.
isnt buster in the ring of honor?

cfl…..you mean where Bud Grant won some grey cup’s as a coach???
…or where warren Moon reinvented himself before rocking out the nfl

I used to watch the CFL when the games were televised on ESPN. Good football. Too bad none of the stations I get carry it. The CFL is also where Sandy Stephens went to eat himself out of football, except for a brief stint with the Chiefs as FB.
There was a Peanuts book back in the day entitled, “Slide, Charlie Brown, slide!” Re-issue?
Its a completely different game once you get over that its ok
I’ll watch from time to time
If the injury’s a grade 1 or mild grade 2 sprain it shouldn’t affect him all that much for the opener but if it’s the latter the knee’s going to require some extensive rehab and will be a concern all season. Adrian had a grad two plus MCL sprain last year.
No way he should play this coming Saturday. He’s looked plenty sharp already and whatever work he still needs with Berrian can be done in practice.
Correction. AP’s injury last season was a less common LCL grade two plus injury.
Hey Judd, Chip (and Kevin as I know he still peruses this blog) as a casual user and seldom blogger I just wanted to say thanks for the updates - you’re always required reading for this out of the state self-proscribed vikings fanatic - I can’t function without knowing all there is to know.
TJ cannot be relyed on to be there week after week so is that injury prone…yes. As soon as everyone starts praising him for his “greatness” the guy goes down with an injury…then we’ll have to wait next year because he can only play so many games and the homers will let his rookie year slide to next year too. Then it’ll be “the guys record was 3 wins one loss” blah blah blah quit saying the guy was 8 and 4 as a starter because there is 16 games a season and the way this guy is going he might get only 10 games this year, 3 years to get one season under his belt, yeah maybe the guy did look better this preseason but if he is injured all the time then what good is he on the bench nursing another injury.
his greatness?? hof?? really?? on this blog?? praise for tjack?? wow
When buster/retsub’s away, the optimists will play…
south i don’t think even the optimists are willingf to praise him yet
I never said it, but there are some who’ll say it, all I’ve ever said is he’s better than last year so far…and he was ranked what…45th or something…lol
all he has to do is not lose the game and stay healthy, but he cannot stay healthy and he really tries to push the not losing the game part…so…Gus you ready for the reins?
that would be the worst case scenario
I mean no one wants there starter missing during the year
But based on facts Gus has stepped in and won for the vikes heck he stepped in last year for the rams who’s o line was swiss cheese and won some games don’t discount the value of picking him up
There is a reason he is not a starter but really if its supposed to be ok to get excited about t-runs preseason numbers then why not GUs’s he has done well against the starters. We will likely be getting a good look at them in the steelers game. Garcia stepped in and took the eagles to the playoffs todd collins did it last year for the redskins. Its far too early to say but no reason why Gus couldn’t do it. If he were our number QB in my estimation he would be the second best QB in the division falling just under kitna.
[…] Access Vikings / ESPN […]
yeah monc, i do agree with you to some degree…but a good majority of the people feel…as do the coaches, that tjack gives the vikes thebest chance…but i agree that nothing should be taken away from gus
Hopefully the MRI missed the tear….. If it’s only a sprain we are screwed…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!
buster, get bent, you shouldn’t wish that on anybody…sometimes you take the pessimist act to a degree beyond being an @$$clown. get some sort of tact you half wit
Well I know we’ll see Gus this year, it may be for quite a bit of time, the injury bug already hitting TJ and its still preseason, kinda gives you a pre-view of what to expect
I would not be suprised if AP hits the wall a little bit this year. Very commoon for second year guys not too mention its gonna depend on T-run hit the every QB’s dream the one on one wr or heck even the wide open uncovered wr if he can do that we will be ok
Run D= expect it to take a dip now that we have allen the are playing the LB’s back more
D startegy against the pukers on the 8th= lots of shifting the D some of the smoke and mirror’s stuff we did with our LB’s and of course bring the heat make rodgers throw kick and take those running lanes away from the 30 million dollar Grant and if our O doesn’t turn the ball over all night we will be ok
buster, i hope you were half joking w/ your post…
wasn’t it beautiful to watch the highlights from the Packers/49ers…and seeing Rodgers get knocked around…Packers o-line didn’t look very good at all
matty = speaking of 1/4 wits…… this is a blog, are you my mom?? WHo really cares about what is posted here?? If you care that much about what is posted here, dude you seriously need help and a life. Maybe I’m always sarcastic or maybe not…. big deal….. idiot…

TJ didn’t look all that great last night anyway, when he was hitting it was like “yeah that works” but when he missed it was way off and that was like “what the f&*k was that” So he didnt exactly throw anything that was that extraordinary, anyone can throw a five yard pass, lets see him throw a ball past 5 yards once…his TD to nance was close to being overthrown as well so that doesn’t count…lol
Back to D Udeza , edwards and even that bum we sent to washington were good against the run
allen can hod his own against the run and we are better for having him. just ya know
buster, for the most part…I could really care less…honestly.

by the way sloppy joe’s are great
no quite arby’s but great
yeah…love me some sloppy joes
Why isn’t anyone talking about the cheap Ray Lewis “leg twist” tackle? I mean Tarvaris was down and Lewis was twisting his leg! He’s a cheap shot artist and no one will say it!
We are having my Viking action Figure Association fantasy football draft tomorrow and here is my wish list… crazy I know that I will get all of these players:
1- TJack
2-Garrett Mills
3-AAllison
4-JKleinsasser
5-APeterson
6-TTapeh
7-RLongwell
8-BBerrian
9-SRice
10-Chester Taylor
11-Vikes D
12-Arkee Whitlock
Guess I will just lose during bye week but I should go underfeated the rest of the way.
you just did
TJoke Blows……
Yesterday it was just a bruise, today it’s a strained MCL… tomorrow an amputation??
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!
well lets hope it doesn’t get to that
same thing happenned with Mediue Williams, nothing serious they said…yeah only a broken spine and he’ll never walk again…
tuttle because everyone is too busy wondering why he tried to run ray lewis over in a meaningless game when he already has the starting job to begin with. Its kinda selfish on his part he should know to slide at this stage in his career last years concussion should have taught him that. He is supposed to be our guy the team supposedly needs him he cannot make half minded selfish plays like that
There are alot of players that are gonna take out your QB if they get the chance
Every year they add new rules to protect QB’s I don’t think they will stop until they add the redshirt to the season. Preseaon isn’t time ti get cute and run around like that he is supposed to be working on his pocket pressance if he is gonna bootleg every play then he is far more open to more of that
PA will be a key to our passing game but he should have been working on his 3 and 5 step drops
Well maybe we can stretch this out to Spring training 2009! I hope!!!!
spring training for the twins?? confused
matty, you are right my bad! I just came back from the “TWINS WIN” That is more then what we will get from T-JAK.
What I meant to say was Training Camp 2009.
All this talk about the guy replacing Favre being injury prone? T-Joke has him beat by far! This could be a blessing in disguise though. It might force the Vikings to sign a good QB. I hear Culpepper is available…
Marlon still can’t take a hint I guess
I have the Garrett Mills action figure as well as a retsuB semyhR Voodoo doll
News flash Ocho stinko injured ala shoulder injury vs the lions
…funny we are mentioning rodgers vs he has been sacked six times in two games vs vanilla D’s…
yeah i know…figured anyway…
TJoke is a candy ass…. his body is like peanut brittle…. very unflexible…. his limbs are as dry as 10 year old dead timber…. snap - crackle - pop goes TJokes body…..
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!
I can recall this being the second injury that TJack has experienced. Am I wrong? We’re making it sound like it’s his tenth. Nothing too out-of-the-ordinary about a concussion when you ram a linebacker head on. And last night’s injury was a nasty twist of a knee, happens a lot.
All I am saying is, these two injuries don’t quite make him a twig just yet. No doubt, he needs to learn to slide and play for another play, but I have also seen him take a lot of hits on runs and sacks, and I don’t see him being brittle from all this. Let’s not go out and sign Ego-pepper just yet.
(Just maintaining the realist view on TJ.)
He had THREE injuries last year alone…. Once AGAIN B.G has no clue…. He missed 4 game with THREE different injuries… The guys a waste…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!
TJack 16 games career.
Buster 20 games career.
This is going to be like watching Phelps going for the 8th gold.
I don’t think Buster missed games because of injuries though. I think it was something to do with not being very good.
Buster does hold some kick return record I guess. He was so good at returning kicks they signed him to a 20 game contract.
Wow 4 whole games with injuries - three different injuries no less. I’m guessing that amongst the NFL starters there’s only Favre, P. Manning, and Romo that haven’t missed a game due to injury and P. Manning’s could come at the season opener. TJ’s looked good so far - better than last year and better than the run D. Could be because Allen does a lot of speed rush to the outside and runners cut up in the gap.
All the post-game discussion is on T_Jax injury. Admittedly didn’t see the game but there appears to be more to celebrate than relief that injury appears minor.
Defensive Line showed signficant sack totals for the first time in many games. Grigsby seems to be a keeper at a thin position for this team. There’s some work to do between the D Line and linebackers but this may be housekeeping stuff.
Similarly, Martin Nance was one of the winners of that crazy 14 receiver Survivor series at last year’s camp.
Finally, Vike had plenty of chances to hitch the wagon to one Kyle Boller, QB over the past couple of years. Fortunately, we’ve avoided that scenario and he’s someone else’s problem.
So far, I’m liking what I’m not seeing
Buster- this is your mom!!! quit being an a$$clown
EXTEND CHILDRESS NOW!!!
Thoughts after Saturday’s game:
Ferotte = 2008 version of Jeff Garcia
Nance = 2008 version of Marques Colston
Shaincoe = 2008 version of Dallas Clark
Sumrall = 2008 version of Bob Sanders
Erin Henderson = 2008 version of Patrick Willis.
And whoever said that Ray Lewis put a cheap shot on T-Jax - Dude….go back to watching the Professional Bowlers tour. Football is a contact sport and people get hurt.
T-Joke has no one to blame than himself for his injury. As his team’s starting quarterback it is his responsibility to get on the ground and keep himself healthy. There is no need to gain the extra two yards in a meaningless preseason game. Good God, turn the home cooking down a bit!
Are we completely sure that the Seahawks didn’t “cheap shot” Heath Farwell and Jayme Mitchell? C’mon Homers, you’re not trying hard enough! Remind us all how EVERY team, referee, and announcer in the NFL wants the Vikings to fail!
I’m going out on a limb here…The Vikings are the 2008 version of the New England Patriots. SuperBowl Homeboys!
I think Goodell has set up a conspiracy to knock out as many Viking players as possible.
Maurice hicks is the 2008 version of a slow terrible backup RB.

King - that was beautiful…..I’m speechless.
It was no secret that Tagliabue hated the Vikings and fixed the last two NFC Championship games the team participated in…
King, let me be the first to say that made fo F’G sense…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
King: My PS3 is now connected to the internet.
Any of you Madden players getting frustrated over the fact that the computer is impossible to stop (especially the passing game) on a 4th quarter, game-winning drive? Aaron Rodgers went 7 for 7 to beat me with 13 seconds left…
Obviously he didn’t run 7 plays in 13 seconds, I meant he left me 13 seconds to work with…
Couldn’t TJoke go 5-5 with 3 intercetions in 13 seconds???
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!
Does this sound better?

Do I have to hold it up to a mirror to get the true and sensible meeting???
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!
No…
Bones - you didn’t need to explain. It was obvious you had 13 seconds left. Too bad you didn’t trade Allison and a 5th rounder to Chicago for Hester (that’s what I did). You would have had a chance to beat GB.
Nope. It means…..BUSTER SUX AND RETSUB BLOWS NOW….you could also substitute either for Bones.
Why didn’t you type in RHYM*S?? Oh yea the morons at the Strib have 86′d that word…. what a bunch of knobs….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!
YOU WILL PAY FOR THAT KING!!!
Yeah, whatever…..
My trades:
McKinnie to Miami for Jake Long + a 2nd rounder
Griffin + a 3rd rounder to Carolina for Jeff Otah
Miami second-rounder + Minnesota 1st rounder (28th) to Bengals for their 1st rounder (3rd overall)
I saw someone online with the screen name BONES and then a bunch of numbers. Was that you?
KING:
The white gal with the dark hair is OK but so it the dark girl with the red hair (red?). But I’m voting for couple number three.
I’m not sayin’ Ray did it on purpose, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he did. Look at the sinister smile on his face and his hand on TJ’s knee in the pic.
http://www.startribune.com/photos/?c=y&img=vike0818cover2.jpg
It also looked like he was twisting TJ’s leg after the play was clearly over. Ray Lewis = cheap shot murdering bastard
TOMMY:
I didn’t see the game, but I heard from a couple places he gave the knee a good extra twist at the end. I’ve had that happen to me by a defensive linemen, IT HURTS! I mean, I didn’t flop around like a gut shot gopher afterwards like ol’ Number Nine years ago, but it hurt!
The injury happened before that…. It happened when TJokes toe was on the turf while he was horizontal and got hit on the hip. TJoke = made of glass…. I think he’s that boxer from Mike Tyson’s Punchout….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!
I don’t want to hear excuses. If you’ve ever played football before and have been pinned at the bottom of a pile, you know a lot of “stuff” happens under there. Football is a contact sport, things happen, get over it.
My son said some teams would punch him in the throat at the bottom of the pile. That didn’t bother him as much as the incessant trash talking all the way through the game. He told me it went on and on, ridiculous stuff. Trying to get in his head I suppose.
