Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com has come out with his top 50 list of NFL players and four Vikings made the cut. Although it might make sense to assume Adrian Peterson would be the top-rated player among the Vikings that is not the case.
That honor goes to defensive tackle Kevin Williams, who checks in at No. 10. Two spots below him is defensive end Jared Allen, who led the NFL with 15.5 sacks last season. Peterson does not show up until No. 15 and Pro Bowl left guard Steve Hutchinson is No. 19.
It’s not a big surprise that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is atop Prisco’s rankings. He’s followed by Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson; Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss; and Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey. The top defensive end is Houston’s Mario Williams. “He might have been the league’s best defensive player in the final eight weeks of 2007,” Prisco writes.
