Not so fast on Rogers
June 16th, 2008 – 10:58 AM by Judd ZulgadDid some checking and all indications are the Vikings will not be taking a look at former Detroit Lions receiver Charles Rogers. I’m leaving the previous blog up because there was a report out there that we had acknowledged. Looks like Rogers’ high school coach was incorrect about where his former star player will be going next to try to revive his career.

Ok. I placed 2nd and 3rd.
He should go to Jacksonville and tryout for them…apparently they have a need for WR’s who suck.

Just as well. Even from a pure talent standpoint (leaving aside the substance abuse issues), it’s not clear Rogers is the same guy who dominated in college. From Wikipedia:
“After his release, Rogers worked out for the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2006, all of whom passed. Reportedly, Rogers worked out for the Kansas City Chiefs in January of 2007 and flopped the workout by running a 40-time of 4.8, which was a steep decline from the 4.28 that he ran at the Indianapolis combines four years prior.”
we’d be better off signing Keyshawn outta retirement rather than take a chance on C Rog
I thought the Vikes were pretty well set at receiver anyway with Robert Ferguson and the others. Plus the rookie, JJ I think, will get a chance. The other guys will just be along for the ride.

I think the Puckers could do worse than sign Culpepper. He was within a few minutes of leading the Raiders to the win against us last season. When Rogers gets knocked out of the Monday Night opener, Daunte could very well be called on. Then he will fold under the pressure from our improved pass rush and throw an INT, get sacked, or FUMBLE like he always does.
