And the list continues to grow.
Dre Moore, a 6-4, 305-pound defensive tackle from Maryland, will visit the Vikings on April 9-10, according to Scout.com. During that same time period, former Notre Dame defensive tackle Trevor Laws also is scheduled to be at Winter Park. Moore led Maryland with six sacks last season and led the team with 63 tackles.
The Vikings are allowed to bring in 30 prospects before the April 26-27 draft. Here is the updated (and partial) list of players expected to be in Minnesota:
– DT Kentwan Balmer, North Carolina
– QB Brian Brohm, Louisville
– QB Joe Flacco, Delaware
– WR Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma
– DE Kendall Langford, Hampton
– DT Trevor Laws, Notre Dame
– DT Dre Moore, Maryland
– WR Devin Thomas, Michigan State
Meanwhile, there is some sad news today involving a player who had been expected to be taken in the draft. Heath Benedict, an offensive lineman from Newberry College in South Carolina, was found dead at his home in Jacksonville, Fla. Here is the story.
Afternoon update: Scout.com reports that Langford was in town today for his visit and that the Vikings also were supposed to meet with Louisville wide receiver Mario Urrutia.
Wow Judd, You get that from Viking Update???
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!
I guess the worst players in my opinion are the ones that get cut. Deandre Island? I don’t think he ever made the roster.
What’s with bringing in 3 DTs and only 1 DE? I realize they may specifically avoid bringing in potential 1st round picks so as not to show their hand, but this seems skewed. Perhaps these are DTs that are also DE prospects?
MudHen,
That list is only partial so there might be other defensive ends coming in.
Thanks Judd!
pijin, didn’t you hear that the Vikes are going to sign Kings Yard Gnome to play DE?? Our search is finally over…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!
Judd, Thanks!!!!
BNHOF
Sickining Brown Noser……
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!
I thought King’s yard gnome was already playing LT for the Vikings?
No Ole, that’s Smoots old dancer pole from the Love Boat playing LT…… brother….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!
dorko can go awayo
Judd - is the list partial because they haven’t decided on the others yet, or you just haven’t been able to get the names? If the former, my question still stands…why the early focus on DT? If the latter…get to work!
I didn’t know dre was from Maryland….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!
pijin = means business= vein on his forehead popping out…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!!
Don’t forget Mr. Marshall’s wrong-way run with a fumble. Got us on some highlight films in our purple pants and white jerseys.
What about Bobby Bryant’s block of a Ram FG attempt in the playoffs, took it back all the way for a TD?
Cunningham’s smile to Moss just before the snap and a bomb for a TD vs. Dallas?
Puckett’s homer in the 11th vs. the Braves? (Sorry)
Bringing players in for interviews is all smoke and mirrors. I believe they will go defensive end in the first.
MOP:
1976 NFC Championship - The Game of blocked kicks - Nate Allen’s blocked FG and Bobby Bryant’s return for 90 yards and a TD (who said Bobby was slow?), Matt Blairs recovery of a blocked punt that led to a FG and a Viking 10-0 halftime lead. Bryant intercepted 2 passes that game as well.
First Ledger, now Benedict. So sad…
The Vikings need to take a look at Red Bryant, DT from Texas. 6′4″ 318lbs:
Tommy, as I recall that game started with the Rams taking the opening drive down the field relatively easy before stalling for the FG attempt, which BB blocked and returned. Went from looking like down 0-7 to up 7-0. Is that the right game?
2Minute– Your thinking replacement for Fat Pat?
That’s right Coach, and the Vikings never looked back after that. The Vikings went up 17-0 before the LA Rams scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter, the Vikings sealed the deal when Sammy Johnson scored in the 4th qtr.
Torgo - THey need to think about it either this year or next. And Pat needs a breather every once in a while. You’d think he wouldn’t get winded as easy having having all those ladie friends.
Theres a poll on espn where the fans get to pick who the teams will draft and the fans selected some wide receiver for the Vikings. The expert who gave his take thought it was a stupid pick becuase they need a defensive end worse.
Just to be clear, the MOP of the Day was greatest single play. Please hold on to your greatest player and greatest game answers for future MOPs; but as always, thanks for playing our game!
What is a MOP of the day?
Mud’s Opion Poll
i am of the opinion that i have no opinion so what is your opinion of that bwaaaaak
some idiot on one of the “mock” drafts showed us taking a LB in the 1st round. That would make about as much sense as us drafting Mendenhal or McFadden…
That was weird.
I’d say the greatest single play would have to be the famous T-Jack Jump-No-Pass….
What’s wrong with McFadden?
I think Greenway will have a monster year this year.
Fargo - I’d say less…at least McFadden or Mendenhall would be bargains at #17 and would have value in a trade (or freeing up Chester to be traded). Is there more than 1 LB that ranks in the top 20?
Dan Conner is going to be a beast for whoever is smart enough to draft him
Mendenhal actually might still be there at 17, McFadden will go in the top 5 or 6 somewhere.
For any of you who are in DT Minneapolis, Dave Osborne and Mick Tingelhoff are in the Qwest Building, Skyway level autographing the book, A Tradition of Purple. I was lucky enough to have a couple minutes with the 2 Vikings Legends talking about their careers. Good Stuff!!
although if McFadden fell that far, I bet we could make a deal with Dallas. Get back a couple of those picks that we gave them in the Herschel Walker deal…
Bet Childress will be scouting the Olympics this year.
Lot’s of people with “freakish ability” there. We will probably draft a member of the synchronized swimming team.
Lucky you. Last viking great I got to see was Chuck Foreman, he was at the Sam’s Club in Fargo several years ago signing autographs
Mendenhall will not pass Chicago, much less Detroit. Get used to him playng for someone ion the North
Fargo has a Sams? I always pictured that town as a bunch of shacks with the Hardware Hanks as the biggest store.
Easy Torgo. We will put the Smooter on you.
Go Vikes
Torgo = fan of runts & pipsqueaks….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
Damn that was funny Toga… Moron
Torgo = locked up in Viking J’s basement
Torgo = locked in the basement of his mothers house with only a sleeping bag and his computer.
2MT, that makes Torgo (gasp) Viking J’s long lost son!!!!
Congrats J!! You’ve finally found him!!
LOL Ole!!!
Hey guys…was I as clunky as Torgo in my efforts to “fit in” when I first joined the blog? If so…sorry!
Don’t give up Torgo…it gets better when there’s real football news to argue over.
A state Senate committee has served up a stadium appetizer for the Minnesota Vikings amid clear signs the team will be back for the main course in 2009.
An amendment to a bigger tax plan authorizes the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission to proceed on a $2 million study of design, site and financing options of a new stadium complex.
The team and the commission would split the cost.
The study must be done by early 2009. Vikings vice president Lester Bagley says the move puts the stadium discussion on the table for next year’s Legislature.
Senator John Marty of Roseville tried to derail the proposal, saying it presumes public money is needed for a new football stadium.
The Vikings are under lease at the Metrodome through 2011. The team has struggled to gain support for a new $954 million stadium.
I’m sorry I was trying to be funny. I apologize.
It’s all good Torgo. You get a pass for being Viking J’s kid.
Torgo - Rule 1, never apologize.
Torgo - rule 2, ignore Buster/Alan.
I am already following rule 2
Torgo - Rule 3, grow a pair …. like VQ!!!
Good job. Rule 3, ignore any flaxton or pants names.
Tommy, I’m curious now. My sources don’t show Sammy Johnson scoring a TD that year, and I thought the stats included post season, but maybe not. I don’t remember much after htat opening sequence.
The Rams QB was James Harris, just a little better than TJax, as I recall. Threw more int’s than TD’s. We stonewalled them pretty good after that opening drive.
Meeting.
Ahhhhh!!!! Queen has a pair? No wonder Buster keeps hitting on Queen.
There seem to be some rivalries here like wisvike vs Buster. Can someone give me a quick breakdown of the rivalries so I know who to cheer for?
Coach - You must be thinking of a different game? The 1976 NFC Championship game, the Rams starting QB was Pat Haden. Haden was the 3rd string QB until week 5 when Harris and Jaworski were injured. Maybe it was McClanahan that scored that TD?
Rule 4 - Don’t choose sides.
If a Pukers fan comes on to the blog (Unless it’s GPG), tell them to F%#K Off.
I’m currently reading “A Tradition of Purple”. It’s a pretty sappy accounting of Viking history. The good times read well but it completely ignores any rough times. It makes the Herschel Walker trade sound like a great trade that just didn’t quite work out. And the 4 Superbowl losses are just a blip on the screen of great seasons. Only real die hard Viking fans will enjoy it.
Rule 5 - No cheering without pom-poms and a tennis skirt
As dumb as you are I bet it’s a popup book!
You guys have your own ten commandments!
Gunslinger - I haven’t read it, so shut up before I blog punch you.
Oh I see the blog idiot(wusvike) has returned…. any news on the Vikes trading Maurice Hicks??
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!
Whoa there, Slugger!
commandments and man laws.
Torgo = fake…. nice try loser….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!
King - Rule 5 only applies to Bones…right? I don’t have a tennis skirt.
You want me to give out the end of the book? The Vikings haven’t won the Superbowl. I haven’t finished it yet. I’m just saying the book is a love fest.
Who? Bones? In that case I’d like to add high heels to that ensemble.
Tommy - You’ve got the pom-poms though?
I really hope that Bones is a girl otherwise you guys are scaring me a bit.
Hey, Buster finally got off the phone from ordering his Favre coin collection. Don’t try and fool us Buster, we know you are a true paqueer fan. As much as you talk trash about the Vikings you have to be.
King - No, not mine exactly…I do have access to some.
She’s a chick alright….
LOL at wisvike
torgo + wus = get a remedial room
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
Torgo, want to see my Barbie Doll collection?
What is with all the math equations?
No i don’t
OK Torgo, How long have you been on this blog?
That’s not a trick question…

Good thing or Bad thing????
NFL ADOPTING MADDEN KICKOFF RULE?
Posted by Mike Florio
One of the things that has always bugged me about the Madden video game is that it incorrectly uses the college rule regarding the coin toss.
Put simply, the NFL rule is that the team that wins the toss gets to choose whether to kickoff or receive. The team that loses the toss gets to make that decision at the start of the third quarter.
There is no ability at the NFL level to defer the decision to kick or to receive until the third quarter. If the team that wins the toss chooses to kick to start the game, the team that loses the toss then can choose to receive to start the third quarter.
Madden has had the rule wrong from its inception. But now, Madden could end up being right. But only because the owners might adopt the Madden version of the rule.
The proposal is mentioned in an item from Mark Curnutte of the Cincinnati Enquirer, in which many of the various proposals are identified.
Now, we’ll sit back and wait for all the comments to be posted insisting that NFL teams currently have the ability to defer the decision as to whether to receive the kickoff until the second half.
Am I on the correct blog?? This is a football blog isn’t it??
Come on Torgo, I’ll show you my bling bling too!
Two or three days I think
That coin rule won’t change a thing. I have never seen a team win the coin toss and not recieve opening kick-off. And who wouldn’t want to recieve frst in the second half?
Rule 6: For Gesus’s sake and the good of Jeff, don’t openly back T-Jax….
(yeah, so I’m a commandment breaker - not the worst one I’ve broken though…)
Torgo really?? and you have gigured out that wis & I jab at each other alot?? We haven’t really done much of that since last week, till after you mentioned it today… strange….and all your silly little questions.. really a bit much. Tell us what other names have you been on here as/now ?
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!
Didn’t Denny Green, in a game in Chicago, elect to kickoff to open the game after winning the toss? It was windy so he wanted to pick the wind rather than get the ball. Only Denny! It’s a good rule I guess, but I don’t know if it will make much of a difference. One team gets the ball first, one gets the ball first coming back after the half. Sounds equal.
Ahhhhh!!!! Queen has a pair? No wonder Buster keeps hitting on Queen.
Does not take a genius to figure out that you two don’t like each other. Nice try though.
Chilli is such an idiot that if he won the coin toss in an OT game he would defer….Then after being told how stupid that was he would throw the red challenge flag to overturn his previous dumb call… Thus losing a time out and the ball in OT….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!
Also
Torgo - rule 2, ignore Buster/Alan.
Chili has already deferred winning games in the past so we can win more this year. He’s a genius!
Whose Alan?
Sure right, keep telling yourself that…. you’re doing as good at rule #2 as wis…. can’t resist can you?
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
30 days until the draft.
4Ever - next time you post something regarding Apple, we’ll say the same to you!
Hey, that kind of looks like Buster. Alan and Buster are the same person.
Great Moments in AV Blog History:
- culpeppertomoss throwing a tizzy fit and leaving the blog over the terribly racist term “dude”
- Bones revealing her true identity as Bonesetta
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!
I can’t believe that the draft is only a month away. Time to get excited!
Buster - That was funny. Dude is a racist term. LMAO
How Homer like …….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
Better yet, Opening day for Twins is Monday night.
where did he throw me?
You prove my point over and over…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
in a fit, I think.
torgo & wis = now wetting themselves…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!
That sounds like it hurt, no wonder I don’t remember
remember rule #2 - you chuckleheads…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!
There is something wrong with a guy thinking of other guys wetting themselves. Disturbing.
What the hell does “torgo” stand for anyway?
It was probably not the throw…. more like the booze…..
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
General Torgo- Salute me lieutenant!
AH YES, the booze!
Tanqueray Rangpur and Squirt…..mmmmmmm.
I was watching Cash Cab the otehr day, The question was something along these lines. What childrens toy was accidentally created when a person dropped a spring down the stairs?
I like the way you think King
It doesn’t really stand for anything.
slinky
Anyone want to know what the guys answer was?
Slinky!
yes
I don’t think that’s really how the Slinky was created wisvike. I heard it was a US Marine enginer that saw a torsion spring fall off a table and roll on the deck of a boat.
the sit and spin?
2MT - just going by what the question was on the show, the point of it is, the guys answer was a hulahoop.
When beer just isn’t enough….
Hulahoop? I hope the guy had to walk 13 blocks.
Was his name Buster by chance?
hulahoop?
No no no. That was what toy was invented when Ole’s wife bought him a purple thong that was 7 sizes too big?
Disco = LMAO!!
….and coincidently the temperature in Hawaii dropped to 45 that night…
Inferno - LMAO.
Torgo - could’ve been.
2MT - I believe the two guys had to get out after maybe a 1/4 of there trip. The only question they got right that I remember was about alcohol.
Rule #7: There are no rules?
Huli huli chicken…..mmmmmmmmmmm.
Damn I’m gungry…..and thirsty too!
King = FBK
Do I think McKinnie will be traded? NO
Sadly so….
I didn’t know squids have beaks.
Torgo you must be strange.
Beaks and a mean streak…..scary.
You lads must remember that Childress is our coach and will be for years to come. There is no denying that.
that’s where you put the skewer through when you grill ‘em king
Makes sense to me….
11-5 playoffs homies……
All we need is the Smooter back..
Go Vikes
I am hoping that Tarvaris Jackson continues to improve this year, it should be a fantastic season for our Vikings!
So anyway….
Any good free agent QB’s in the CFL? Any potential DE’s in the NCAA Sweet 16?
Any Gophers scheduled for a visit with the Vikes?
Anybody think that giving up a 3rd round draft pick for Jared Allen is too much?
Do I think Viking John needs a new act? YES
I didn’t know burnt toast could think! Who cares what Burnt toast thinks anyway. If it’s burnt, throw it away.
It would cost two 1st rounders to get Allen…assuming we made an offer strong enough that KC wouldn’t match.
Burnt Toast should like Viking John since Smooter is always getting Burnt.
MHVF - So why did Pryor choose OSU over Big Blue? Because he wanted to play for a winner?
You tell him Tommy.
All we need is Culpepper back and playoffs are in the picture.
Go Daunte
Go Vikes
Smooter=burnt toast
Then a 3rd rounder would be a steal.
Burnt Toast = a CB at one time.
I could see 11-5, that’s not so far out there. How far were we from 11-5 THIS year?
I doubt the Vikings brass would give up as much as a 3rd-rounder for Jared Allen. Oh, sure, he had 15.5 sacks last year and is only 25, but he has had some legal issues (”Allen has been arrested/charged for driving under the influence a total of 3 times within 4 years” — Wikipedia), and the Vikings under Chili and Zygi put character first. (Unless it’s the left tackle.)
Two more nuggets from Wikipedia:
* “Jared credited his early 2007 season success to his mullet.”
* “His father, Ron was once on the training camp roster of the Minnesota Vikings.”
Question: Do I ask questions and answer them myself?
Answer: What do I look like, Burnt Toast.
Lions, Chiefs and Broncos.
Close games we should have won….
Should’ve, could’ve, would’ve
Go Vikes
2MT - because he’s a headcase…a damn talented one…but a headcase none-the-less. It was going to be an ugly transition under Rodriguez with or without Pryor; just too much to change. Can’t blame the kid for not wanting to bear the brunt of that.
Oh, and by the way, winningest program of all time…whether by # or % = Michigan.
Michigan can’t even beat the Sioux, oh, thats hockey.
Sioux suck
go Gophers
Go Vikes
Don’t know if Moc beat me to this (or if, as the last time I did a cut-and-paste, Monc was doing it simultaneously), but this was an interesting scenario from SI’s Don Banks:
• If the Chiefs do wind up taking Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan at No. 5 — and I’m starting to get the sense that’s a very real possibility if the No. 3 Falcons pass on him, as it appears they will in favor of LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey — it probably means that veteran Damon Huard will be released or traded. Kansas City coach Herm Edwards said this week that he wouldn’t nix the idea of going into the season with a rookie quarterback, in addition to third-year veteran Brodie Croyle and second-year man Tyler Thigpen.
If he gets to the market, Huard would be a potential fit in Green Bay, which is searching for a veteran backup as insurance behind first-time starter Aaron Rodgers, or Minnesota, which continues to explore options in addition to Tarvaris Jackson.
‘’ burp ‘’
MHVF - When you say all time, is that all DI Schools? Otherwise it really means nothing.
J, you drink those 3 beers again. All you can handle???
Go Vikes
Peace All!
Got a MOP summary yet Mud? I think Buster and I combined for the win! (Is that good?)
I stand corrected on the Ram QB Tommy. Its the same game, but I forgot about young Patrick. I loved how the Rams all huddled on the sideline during those playoff games at the Met. They just wanted to get back to sunny Cal. Wimps!
‘’ fart ‘’
It seems Chris Simms is skipping workouts with his team, I guess the Bucs might be willing to move him. We should get there permission to get a look see and maybe trade a fith for him
Torgo, you seem like a good guy, who has a lot of enthusiasm for the Vikes. Don’t listen to the fake buster.
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW!!!
A fifth of what?
Simms is rocking Gruden’s boat…which means he would hide him away and not trade him for spite
Mud:
What was the MOP for today?
And the fake Buster reappears…..
As is well known, the Vikings currently call the Metrodome their home turf, and it is one of the worst facilities in the NFL.
The Minnesota State Senate Taxes Committee recently opened Pandora’s Box, however, and OK’d a $2 million study on how to replace the Metrodome.
It’s the biggest step stadium talks have taken since the Vikings pulled the rug out from under Anoka County back in 2006.
Minnesota had an agreement with the Anoka County Commission to build a retractable roof-covered stadium near Blaine, Minn., but scrapped the roof when legislators balked at the price tag.
As a result, the county was miffed, and broke off all ties with the franchise.
Most stadium talk now has revolved around replacing or retrofitting the dome, with the Wilf family - the Vikings’ owners - even purchasing property near the dome.
Whatever happens, it has to happen fast. Minnesota’s lease with the dome is over in just three years.
Meanwhile, the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Twins will move into their own new stadiums over the next two years.
3/27/2008
1 A five-game winning streak late last season, an active free agency period that has included the signings of impact players WR Bernard Berrian and S Madieu Williams, and an ever-growing interest surrounding the NFL Draft has the Minnesota Vikings and their fans excited for the upcoming 2008 season.
The addition of core players through free agency and the draft coupled with the retention of key veterans gives the team a solid foundation for future success.
As committed as the Vikings are to bringing a Super Bowl championship to the fans and the state, the franchise is equally devoted to securing a long-term home for the team in Minnesota. The Vikings remain one of the few NFL franchises without a stadium solution, but the team is determined to collaborate with the State Legislature, the Governor and local leaders to resolve this issue.
Working with the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission (MSFC), the Vikings are moving forward on a public-private partnership that will open a new multi-purpose stadium on the current Metrodome site in the year 2012.
This economic development proposal includes three critical elements that go beyond hosting Vikings home games:
A retractable-roof stadium that will give Minnesotans a state-of-the-art venue to be used year-round for high school and amateur sports, trade shows, community and cultural events, as well as national and international happenings.
A Winter Garden light rail train station that will serve as a connecting point for the future Central Corridor light rail line and the existing Hiawatha line. This gathering place is integral to the Vikings vision of the overall development and will host indoor/outdoor activities for transit riders, neighborhood residents, downtown workers and stadium attendees.
A privately financed redevelopment of the Downtown East area that will include office buildings, residences, shops and restaurants. This exciting project will create jobs, boost the economy and bring a renewed energy to this area of Minneapolis.
“The Metrodome site makes great sense for a new stadium because most of the necessary infrastructure is already in place,” Vikings Owner/Chairman Zygi Wilf said. “While Minneapolis is the proposed location for this stadium, the facility will be a statewide asset used for events that student-athletes and fans from across Minnesota will attend and benefit from.”
In order to allow Minnesotans an opportunity to hear details on the stadium development proposal and give them a chance to provide necessary feedback, the MSFC spent the last several months conducting a “Listening Tour” throughout the state. Members of the Commission emphasized the urgency in which Minnesota must act due to cost inflation and the Vikings Metrodome lease expiring in 2011. They also underscored that the state of Minnesota benefits from a year-round facility that hosts many types of events with significant economic benefits for our region. The MSFC received positive feedback regarding a new facility throughout the tour and is now in the process of completing a report to the Legislature on the findings.
An improving football team, a detailed stadium plan and leadership from the MSFC are all contributing to the stadium issue moving forward; nonetheless, given the feedback the Vikings have received from state leaders, it is clear a stadium decision will not be reached in 2008. Instead, the Governor and Legislative Leadership told NFL executives visiting Minnesota that 2009 is the year to resolve this issue. The Vikings will work with these state leaders to ensure the project stays on this timeline.
“With rising construction costs and our Metrodome lease set to expire in 2011, it is critical to remain on the 2012 timeline to open a new stadium,” said Wilf. “Financing a stadium in the spring of 2009 keeps us on that 2012 timeline and prevents considerable cost inflation.”
Much work remains between now and the 2009 legislative session, and the franchise is reaching out to its fans to help re-energize Minnesota Momentum, a grassroots coalition comprised of Vikings fans, NFL fans and Minnesotans from all walks of life who believe in a timely resolution to the team’s stadium issue. Click here to find out how you can join and help on the effort.
In the meantime, the Vikings continue to push forward during the offseason to add key pieces to the roster. These pieces, along with the dedication of a talented coaching staff, have the team on the rise, with a commitment to bringing a world championship to Vikings fans.
the last one was from vikings.com
Retractable roof = stupid idea
yeah 40..because getting the state to pay for it will work if they can only use it for football. No superbowl…no NCAA tournament. Retractable roof is the ONLY way Minnesota gets a new stadium
Oh I think Zygi could just buy and build his own outdoor stadium….
I like being warm at the games, however, if we could get a stadium like Seattle’s…
I hear you Queen…..down here in Oklahoma territory I don’t think I have a rich understanding of how REALLY cold it gets up your way….
VQ = 1/2 woman… anybody knows trying to keep anything that is even part female warm is impossible…..I’m sure she wants a roof, heated seats and foot warmers in every seat….. brother women and 1/2 women for that matter…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!
Buster or Queen…..can one of you direct me how to put a link in my screen name?
Just click on your name where it says “logged in as 40/60″(above the box where you type your comments in) there will be a place there, don’t gorget to save your changes…..
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!
ahhh less than 30 days left on the job!!
ssss’posed to be spring, I got a snow day….YAY!
ssss’posed to be spring, I got a snow day….YAY!
Thank you Buster…..I don’t care what Barry Switzer and Torgo say about you, you are a fine gentleman.
40/60:
You asked what the MOP is today. It was greatest play or something. One that will ALWAYS stick in my mind (and they replay it ALL the time) is when that Kansas City guy grabbed a pass and turned and ran it in for a TD. That was in Super Bowl One (for us). Than that snotty Hank Stram turned and yukked it up. It took 30 years for me to forgive him for rubbing it in. Remember?
Hank Strams dead! YAY!!!
I think the receiver’s name was Otis Campbell.
Otis Taylor? That wasn’t Sharockman that missed that tackle was it??? LOL
I think the first one that comes to mind for me…..I think it was from ‘99 at Denver. We had third and 35+ on our side of the field. I can’t remember if J. George passed or handed off to Leroy Hoard, but somehow he was able to get the first down. That game was back and forth….I remember Cris Carter made an unbelievable catch.
Maybe the catch by Rashad in the playoff game against Cleveland in the ‘80 playoffs. How about Darrin Nelson breaking through for a score against Dallas in OT in 1987?
Maybe we should just make a top ten list….
You are 100% percent correct, it was Otis Taylor. Otis Campbell was the town drunk of Mayberry on Andy Griffith Show. Another repressed childhood memory. Maybe I have “issues”!
One more that comes to mind is Cris Carter’s circus catch against the Dolphins in ‘94.
1)The catch (Rashad’s)
2)The kick (Gary Anderson’s)
3)The moon (Green Bay game)
4)Wrong way (Jim Marshall)
5)The scramble (Tarkenton–pick one)
6)The whiskey bottle (Pearson hail mary)
7)Kapp’s knockout (against Brown’s LB)
8)Two Minute Tommy’s convulsions
9)Adrian Peterson
10)Adrian Peterson
I’ll add:
Foreman breaking off the long run against the Rams in the ‘76 NFC Championship.
The HEAVE by Tarkenton to Gilliam in the ‘73 NFC Championship at Dallas.
Randy Moss punt return for TD against the Chiefs.
THE HIT…….I can’t remember who it was, but it was against the Packers in December ‘96. Dewayne Washington maybe?
Jim Marshall Fumble return/pitch to Alan Page for a TD against the Lions in ‘69.
Walker Lee Ashley return for a TD against Bears on a Monday night. (’89?)
Joey Browner breaking Willhite’s leg against Denver (ouch!)
Anthony Carter making a SWEET catch for a TD against San Franciso in ‘87 playoffs….
Any more?
Watching 49′ers hightlights right now. They must have a had a quarterback who ran a long ways against the Vikes. No big deal, I guess. Ho hum.
Maybe, but the look on Joe Montana’s face when Reggie Rutland picked him off for 6 was PRICELESS. Unfortunately, Steve Young may have been even better than Montana.
One of my fave Tommy Kramer moments is in the closing minutes at Dallas in ‘88. We are leading 43-3; Doleman and Millard are KILLING Dallas QB Kevin Sweeney and all the breaks are going our way. With under a minute left, Kramer launches a long pass down the sidelines. ESPN got a close-up of his face in between plays; he was laughing it up and having a good time. Unfortunately, Jim Jeffcoat didn’t see the humor and went after Kramer when the game ended….which turned into a pretty good rugby scrum. Kramer was one cocky SOB…and I guess that is why I liked him. Kapp, Tark and Kramer were all salty dogs…..
Go Louisville
….apperantly you named a Ville after Louis and put a University there
go figure
Brian Brohm is from Louisville. Vikes looked at him. Prolly another smokescreen, right?
yup
My sympathies go to the family of that Linemen today. This is not an attempt at humor I would not be suprised if the vikes drafted him
How many stupid things have the vikes done over the years
I think we need to draft many OL’s and maybe two DE’s
The kid who hit the big 3s in OT for Xavier went to the same HS as me…way to go BJ! Go Muskateers!
The Lions are “expected” to draft Florida DE Derrick Harvey if he’s there with the No. 15 pick, according to MLive.com.
There’s a pretty good chance Harvey won’t be there, however. He could go as high as No. 7 to the Patriots. True pass rushers like Harvey probably won’t be around long after the Giants’ Super Bowl performance.

time for bed. bedtime is the worst because I hate dreams. Sometimes dreams make me so mad that I look at myself in the mirror in the morning and call myself names, like “ugly”, or “stupid”
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW!!!
OK…well, sweet dreams, Buster.
Winona State advances to the DII championship game again!!!
Again…does anyone remember the game where Bobby Bryant fair caught a punt (I know, THAT happened a lot) and when the fans at the Met started booing, he blew a double-hand kiss to the crowd. It was absolutely a hoot!
That was good. Not as good as the what I said on the blog this afternoon
“torgo & wis = now wetting themselves…”
I’m a good blogger.
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW!!!
Among the very best — HOF!
(…and I ain’t brown nosin’ either.)
You might be wrong about Tjax though, but I can forgive ya for that.
T-Jump pass no pass, blew too many big games last year, but I will admit that he came around in the Denver game.
We’ll see what happends. I’d be an idiot if I didn’t admit that I sure hope I’m wrong about the guy.
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW!!!
There’s a reason you made the AV Blog HOF Buster…
That’s all we can ask, Mr. Rhymes. Fair enough. What about Chili? Any slack there at all? Given your website, I don’t suppose so.
All this talk about blogging HOF is making me wet…what do you say we take this party back to my place Fargo and B?
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW!!!
I gotta call it a night, boys. Got Mrs. Grant’s birthday to celebrate tomorrow. Came up with nothing at Menards, so had to head to Hallmark.
A dreamless night to you both.
Chili is dead to me like my own mother.
Worst hair cuts ever as a kid. There was never enough salt in the chicken noodle soup.
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW!!!
I see fake Buster figured out how to put a link in his name…
I may have caused that. Buster instructed me on how to do it today. I think it is pretty easy to tell who is real and who is fake link or no link.
That sure as hell wasn’t Buster unless he just had a medical procedure done and was on heavy medication. lol
Chuck Forman,s spin moves when holding the ball like a loaf of bread.
There’s a place on 3rd & Lake that has burrito’s as big as a loaf of bread…..whoa. Taco Pineda’s the name…..I think.
Breakfast Burrito’s…..mmmmmmmm
Gordito’s in Seattle is another place like that. I wish I would have read this review comment before going there:
“Yes, the burritos are huge… but that doesn’t mean you’ve got to eat it all people!”
I guess the person who took us there did say, “There is no way the burrito grande can be eaten by one person.”
I see there was some cops and robbers goin on in the big Twin Towns this morning. Anybody get “held up” in traffic?
I see fake BUSTER was up late…. sure is nice having a stalker who helps me in the posting of FIRE CHILDRESS NOW….loser
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
Here’s the story. How many squads are in the picture? 15?
remember Buster, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
There must be a lot of excitement in the twin cities today what with the car chase and all.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA…
As quarterback Daunte Culpepper waits for the phone to do something other than sit there and stare at him, his chances of returning to the Raiders apparently are shrinking.
No one has shown any interest in Culpepper. In fact, the only time his name has been mentioned came on the first weekend of free agency, when the Randy Moss camp, in an obvious effort to put pressure on the Patriots, leaked that Moss had reached out to Culpepper about possibly reuniting on the same team.
I’ll get excited when 3:30 rolls around and it’s time to start my weekend….
Culpeppers career is over.
Maybe he can take TJoke with him….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!
I wonder if he’s pawned his diamond encrusted pepper yet?
Didn’t he give that to some kid and then demand it back.
He did. He should’ve just given the kid a jersey or something a little cheaper. Not a very classy move on his part.
Diamond-encrusted pepper = haute cuisine
One of the most memorable was one that went against us: Steve Young’s longest touchdown run, a 49-yard play on October 30, 1988. Arghh.
Best Damn Sport Show put it at No. 11 on their most spectacular football plays list. (The Freeman catch was No. 6.)
http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/6072132/Best-Damn’s-Top-50-Spectacular-Football-Plays
Some people actually want Daunte to come back to Minnesota they are crazy.
Maybe if Culpepper breaks out the knee pads..Chilli will THINK about taking him back…depending on how desperate the Vikes think the QB situation will be????
Childress is to smart to bring back a loser like Culpepper.
… too smart? Visanthe Shiancoe, anyone?
Shaincoe was pretty bad this year. But was that Childress or Spielmann that wanted him? Probably both.
King, if your weekend includes ice fishing… well …. maybe not.
Me…I got me a 10:00 Saturday tax appt. Guess my weekend starts about noon tomorrow.
I retired my ice fishing equipment for the season.
“At one point cameras showed the suspect tossing two money bags from a silver Toyota sedan as it sped down I-494.”
the article never stated if the 2 bags were retrieved.
….Buster?
That’s a good call. Think its time to get the boat home and ready. Can I retire my snow removal equipment too?
… five thousand three hundred eighty three, five thousand three hundred eighty four, five thousand three hundred eighty five …
The Eagle has landed, I repeat, the Eagle has landed.
….bottles of beer on the wall
I was sitting out in the yard having a beer after work yesterday and saw a hawk or falcon catch a pijin and rip it apart……fascinating.
Could it have been a MudHen?
Yeah, circle of life never gets old.
…that was ripped apart
I think it was a peregrine falcon. I always find dead pijins minus their heads in my yard.
…or it may have been a coopers hawk.
Do hawks eat mice? We have some mice in our house.
King, have you ever thought it might be the gnome having a snack at the pijins expense?
Hmmmm, just a thought…
pijins dead?? That blows…. Who did he leave his MOP to??
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!
Whoa, whoa, back up. What kind of beer was it? Was it your third?
We saw a merlin eating a smaller bird right outside our window once.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin_%28bird%29
We see a lot of hawks in OK; we sometimes hear great horned owls from the field next door.
Merlin = FBK
B = “bird” or “blog”
OMJ the vikes and Beef writters= asleep at the wheel!
OK TJoke and Chilli are in the water drowning… problem is you only have 1 life jacket…. WHo do you throw it to && why?
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!
Steeler’s Wheel?
At 11:06, it will be 24 hours without a new blog entry.
The world is watching!
NO DAUNTE RETURN IN OAKLAND?
Posted by Mike Florio on March 28, 2008, 8:03 a.m.
As quarterback Daunte Culpepper waits for the phone to do something other than sit there and stare at him, his chances of returning to the Raiders apparently are shrinking.
The Raiders recently have signed quarterbacks Erik Meyer and Jeff Otis, giving them four arms on the roster as offseason camps approach.
Four is the magic number for most teams when it comes to training camps and the preseason. Then again, neither Meyer nor Otis have played in a regular-season game. So it’s possible that they’ll be competing against each other in the short term, and that one of them will get the boot before too long.
Though Culpepper still shows up on the team’s official online roster, the transactions page on the Raiders’ web site makes it clear that Culpepper, who played under a one-year deal in 2007, has not be re-signed.
No one has shown any interest in Culpepper. In fact, the only time his name has been mentioned came on the first weekend of free agency, when the Randy Moss camp, in an obvious effort to put pressure on the Patriots, leaked that Moss had reached out to Culpepper about possibly reuniting
Judd & Kevin are too busy playing Chutes & Ladders with Chilli & Speilman….
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!
I’d throw it to T-Jump because it isn’t his fault Chili threw him in the lake.
Clarification…
Am I in the water and needing a life jacket also?
No, B.G but it is possible you could be pushed errr fall in…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!
First, I would make sure that Adrian Peterson isn’t going to need a life jacket.
T-Jack. He has his whole life ahead of him. And he may still grow into the job. (Ask me again next year.)
As for Chili, since he’s lost his hair, he really has nothing to live for anyway.
Wait… I forgot. I can walk on water. Never mind.
Yea B.G, well I can drink water, so there…
FIRE CHILDRESS NOW !!!!!!!!!
Buster, you’d drink water that Chili had been soaking in? You’re a braver man than I.
Count linebacker Ben Leber among the Vikings players who were impressed by the team’s decision to be aggressive in free agency and sign receiver Bernard Berrian and safety Madieu Williams.
“It was great,” Leber said. “I think it shows the public and it shows the players that they are willing to go out and get the missing pieces. Get some pieces that we need to make us better. We’re excited that the people upstairs, they are putting the message out: ‘This is going to be a great year for us and we’re going to add some key pieces.’ And that’s what they did.”
Oh, and Ben, does your excitement include the absence of TWill? Yeah, I thought that is what you meant.
… hadn’t had a chance to check my NCAA BB picks in a while. Round 3 is handing me my arse. Rats. At least I’m doing better than ~Toad. And Fargo, i.e. the Flaxton of the day …
