December 4th, 2007 – 5:30 PM by Judd ZulgadYou can read more about rookie receiver and kickoff return ace Aundrae Allison in Wednesday’s Star Tribune but just wanted to note that he has been named NFC special teams player of the week. Allison had a franchise-record 103-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Vikings’ victory over Detroit on Sunday and finished with three returns for an average of 47.7 yards.
Allison is the first Viking to earn this honor since kicker Ryan Longwell received it in Week 2 of the 2006 season. Allison is only the second Vikings player to win the award for his work on returns, joining Moe Williams (1999).
Allison, a fifth-round pick from East Carolina in the NFL draft last April, has averaged 37.1 yards on only 10 returns this season and has three run backs of 60 or more yards. The latter figure is a team record.
Allison played Sunday in large part because receiver and primary kickoff return man Troy Williamson was out because of a concussion. One would have to think Allison will get another shot Sunday at San Francisco.

Ya maybe many of you don’t go to games or even watch it every weekend. You might not want to pay higher taxes. It will cost you more if you lose the team it might not be money that goes directly in your pocket but the state generates millions from the Vikings. When that money is gone where are they going to get that money?????
I guess it is a terrible idea to renovate an older side of town with economic development…sounds like pawlenty is intent on turning the place into a dump no point fixing up a dump is there?

I am very happy with the Vikings turn around. I hope it keeps going. As a true Viking fan, I watch every second of the game, winning or losing.
On the stadium issue, excuse my ignorance…
1) If the Vikings want all the revenue from parking, concessions, whatever, why don’t they pay for the whole thing?
2) What if the state (or a private entity) pay for the whole thing and then take all the profits, including conventions, concerts, and monster truck rallies?
3) If Wilf wants to pay for $250M out of the $954M (26%), may he should get only 26% of the revenue?
4) What if we (fans) bought the stadium through donations, license plates, bake sales, car washes, whatever?

well the state didn’t pay 680 mil for the team.
The team has been after a stadium for 10 years now and the state hasen’t so much as negotiated with them
last again you might not see the immediate benifit to the economy by having the team but you will feel the effects long term of the team leaving
p.s they did offer renovate a whole new area of town ….do not economic booms not help with problem like housing crashes?
and as is stands now they are offering and I believe they currently share some of that revenue
the money in taxes the govt and state get from the tickets sold and everything else

Remember this past summer we were discussing prospect for season. Big problem was would the O have any punch.
This statistic really shows how things can change:

We also have Chester to thank for some of those. And the O line for creating holes for both those guys.
Also remember, the MSFC was able to payoff the Dome way earlier than originally projected. The revenue the new stadium would generate would not be just from Vikings games, even if it was an open air stadium. A retractable dome would allow a greater number uses outsides pf the Vikings games. The financial impact of other events cannot be dismissed. Both the Vikings and other events that bring people into the state / metro area and get them to spend money benefit the state and area business owners. A newer stadium with better facilities for a fan / event goers experience the better.
