Williamson won’t play Sunday
November 2nd, 2007 – 7:14 PM by Judd ZulgadReceiver Troy Williamson won’t be with the Vikings on Sunday for their game against San Diego, his agent, David Canter, said Friday evening. Williamson was listed as questionable on the Vikings injury report Friday after missing all three days of practice this week because of the death of his grandmother.
Canter said that in addition to dealing with the death of his mom’s mother early this week, Williamson also has been dealing with the fact his older brother, Carlton, has been in and out of a coma since being involved in a car accident in September.
Williamson left the team after finding out his grandmother passed away and has been helping pay for family members to return to the family’s home in the South Carolina area. The funeral will be Monday.
“Troy is anticipating being back in Minnesota for practice on Wednesday and hopefully being able to put this behind him mentally and emotionally,” Canter said. “He’s healing right now and taking time to be with his family.”

So, the Vikings are without Wade and Williamson…damn, now what are they going to do without their powerful passing attack?
There are such matters that are more important than football, only a few such matters. Let’s give Troy time to heal. You don’t want a player on the field physically with his heart and mind back home.
I wish T-Will and his family the best in this situation…truthfully I wish the best.
On another topic though perhaps another ploy by Chili…
1) TJ hurt 2x to avoid QB controversy and prove that none of our QB’s would make a difference.
2) Injuries to Taylor so then he can play APAD more and avoid national press of AP and names him starter.
3) Wade injury and additional time off for T-Will will now allow younger youth of WR talent to showcase and play…Rice and Allison
4) There are more so far this season, but these are obvious ones.
Chili always does not want his ego to show something has gotten the best of him. Look at all news articles since he has taken the job and look on how he’s handled things. Controversy and bad press has always resulted in Chili changing his mind but usually happens a week or 2 weeks later and it’s due to some “change of luck” that has happened to someone.
Maybe these are just my thoughts or perhaps it’s just the Jameson in my system that has brought this rant on.

V-N-T-S- I agree. If it’s not “execution” (couldn’t be his game plan) it’s injury or issues with players (not his ability to evaluate talent or coach) that facilitates the changes we’ve seen. He needs some kind of rationalization to prove it’s not his incompetence.

The brightside of this though ABV is that we get to see more of Rice and Allison. 2 players that besides AP I think could be great or quality players on our team. Hopefully now we can get a QB to throw to them and TJ can show some of that?? Looking for Rice to continue to play well and to start producing Dwayne Bowe numbers.
I agree. I would like to see some kind of quick slants with either of those two or some screens to AP. Those kind of high percentage passes should be something TJ could do. Allison should have the speed to go down the field if TJ could only reproduce his 60 yard bomb again!

We saw some positives in the young guys (Adrian, Tarvaris, Rice and Allison) that I brought in. We’re definitely going to win some games next year.

A screen pass to AD. What a novel concept. Let’s see, have we done that before? hmmmm…I guess we did against the Falcons in game 1. What was the outcome of that? hmmmmm…Oh, that’s right, a TOUCHDOWN. Apparently, Chili thinks once a play has been successful, it’s time to put that play away till next year. Afterall, he is the offensive genius and architect of the KAO.
Slant passes in the KAO? What, are you people out of your mind? That is not how you move the sticks in the KAO. Anyone that knows anything about offense and moving the chains knows the KAO does not involve moving the chains. In fact, it mostly involves moving fans out of the seats.
Not having Memo return punts is just another example of Chili’s ineptness. It just makes me crazy knowing that Memo is either inactive, or just sits on the sidelines.
Demanding a 3rd round pick for an inactive player also shows the incompetence of the front office as well.

You’ve got to have balls thrown to you to catch them . . . I think Williamson is going to be a good/great receiver - just not for the Vikes
What really stings is that he is eating up $9,610,000 worth of cap space to produce those 9 receptions. That’s third on the team behind McKinnie and Hutchinson. I like #76 and I agree that he is probably the best guard in the National Football League, but I’m guessing that no other team in the league has two offensive lineman as their top paid players. Can you say dysfunctional franchise?

Bones: the salary listing was interesting. I thought the poison pill in the Hutch deal was that his whole contract became guaranteed money if he was not the highest paid lineman. Seahawks didn’t match because Walter Jones was already signed to a larger contract and they didn’t want to guarantee the whole $49 mil.
